Swap Tigers Jaw for Two Worlds and I think I agree. spin is really solid though.

I liked it a lot the first week it came out and i listened a few times since, but it feels more like a transitional album than anything. There are long stretches of music that feel really vacant and spiritless to me, esp on the back end

I'm late to the scene with this band, saw on balance and composure twitter some talk of them,
decided to look them up, bought spin, caught a show by them the other night, and I was absolutely
blown away! I own charmer and love spin, its so catchy. Got to meet ben at the show, and I'm hooked.
I know I'm a little late, but my goodness they put on an amazing live show. Brianna sounded so good live.
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite bands, just wish I would have known about them sooner

  5. Saw them on Fri, and they were great live. First time seeing them, so I did not know Tigers Jaw shows were THAT rowdy ha.

Yeah, the Self Titled songs get quite the reaction. Brianna was obviously not exactly pleased with it at my date, but there wasn't a barrier, and no security guards, so stagedivers were all over the place.

  7. We didn't have a barrier either, but fortunately nobody jumped on stage. Plenty of people trying to crowd surf. People kept falling/getting dropped but luckily nobody got too hurt as far as I know.

LOL I just don’t see this as that type of band

It was weird back then and it's weird now. I think it's because people lump them in with the Title Fight, Balance and Composure, etc type bands when they never sounded like that. It's a bunch of pop punk kids that didn't realize they liked indie.

Yeah, if I go see them on Saturday I’ll be standing way in the back of the room, lmao. I don’t want to get jumped on during Plane vs Tank.

I think Charmer/Spin mark a significant step up for the band, but I still really like Two Worlds and S/T.

Who are the other band members playing with them? Drummer and bass looked like brothers

S/T will always have a special place in my heart. I think most of those songs hold up pretty well.

Chemicals isn’t great, but pretty much everything else is at least decent.

I will say that I still consider myself to be getting into S/T even though I’ve heard it like 30 times. I still don’t *love* it, but there’s something there that keeps me coming back again and again.

those two early albums are fun but yea, they don't have the maturity of charmer. There's something really special about the energy on that album. can't really explain it.

Spin is a good record too... Ben and Brianna took such a huge step up vocally if the band arrangements had been just a bit more interesting I think that album would have sat way better with me. I still listen to it a lot though, and the songs on their own work really well but the whole record blends together a bit.

Chemicals is sick. All of the pre Charmer material is pretty good.

The band has two clearly defined "eras", but they are both good in different ways. The first half has a ton of energy and some hugely fun and relatable songs, and if you can't jam to I Saw Water, I just don't know what to say. The second half has the better song writing but at times they definitely lack a bit of that spark and energy.

it’s too raw and too simple for my tastes to be able to appreciate it. The songs are catchy but that’s about all they have going for them

The first two records are straightforward for sure but are definitely a step above reg pop-punk. Some real good jams instrumentally on those albums.
