This band is way too under the radar - they need to get noticed.

This album is entirely based around the concept of the first creature to crawl out of the ocean.

This and the new turnstile have been the only hardcore releases I've been into this year so far.

    Frameworks: Smother
    Harm Wulf: Hijirah
    Loma Prieta: Self Portrait
Modern Life Is War: My Love, My Way
    Oathbreaker: Eros/Anteros
    Planes Mistaken For Stars: Prey
    Planes Mistaken For Stars: Mercy
Pulling Teeth: Paranoid Illusions, Paranoid Delusions
Punch: They Don't Have to Believe
Rise and Fall: Our Circle is Vicious

What have you guys listened to in the list that you like?

I haven't listened to that Pulling Teeth album in a minute but that band was cool and the guy also ran A389 records which is now shutting down. Cold World is one of my favorite bands and thats the record that put me on to them. Also its named after a ghostface killah line from a Raekwon song off Only Built 4 Cuban Linx so reason enough to listen if you haven't.

Both Cult Leader releases are great if you haven't listened to them before. They're a rad crust/grind/sludge hybrid that's produced some of the most misanthropic, angry music that's come out over the last few years. The Trap Them, Blacklisted, Carrier, Doomriders, Harm Wulf, Modern Life Is War, Oathbreaker, Planes Mistaken for Stars, Pulling Teeth, Touche Amore, Trap Them, and Starkweather releases are also solid.

Acid Tiger is a name I haven't seen mentioned in a hot minute. They're another one of Ben Koller's random projects over the years that he did with Lukas from United Nations. It's a weird, frenetic (but solid) post-hardcore release that reminded me of Drive Like Jehu.

my fav Ceremony as of today is probably Still Nothing Moves you - it begins to showcase C's more "outside" influences while still retaining the power violence sound that made them

    VV is super fun tho

Couple of new releases that I've been digging today:

Knaaves - January. Ex-Die Alone and Enabler.

Here's a cool article from Invisible Oranges about the themes behind the release (bystander intervention or a lack thereof): Two Sides to Violence On Knaaves’ “January” EP

Hank Wood and the Hammerheads - s/t

I really like that Loma Prieta record, although I feel a lot of people was disappointed with I loved the Today Is the Day influence and the more minimal guitar approach they went for

How do you guys feel about Stick To Your Guns?

I'm seeing them live tomorrow so I've been revisiting their discography and personally I think just about every record is solid.

I know they're a bit more mainstream than they used to be, but they've stayed fairly consistent quality-wise, imo.

I remember at least a couple of kids in high school with those MOVE sweatshirts from when they were still a MySpace-core band. I’m still kinda surprised they’re still around, although it sounds like they changed their sound a lot. Good for them, at least they didn’t fade with the Elysia’s and Ligeia’s of the world

Ligeia, that's a name I haven't heard in a while. I really liked their debut.

STYG kinda seems to get lumped in with the metalcore stuff a bit, but they are definitely rooted in hardcore (particularly, the lyrics) - I just wonder if the hardcore crowd still respects them, or if they are written off for being too "mainsteam" now

Oh idk, I think they’ve never particularly been a “cool” band for the hardcore crowd. I myself haven’t listened in awhile

They've never done anything for me, and they weren't that great live the one time I saw them (2008-2009? with Terror, Trapped Under Ice, and Close Your Eyes at a place that was a bar and grill that specialized in flight simulators in Virginia Beach. Weird venue). But that's 10 years ago at this point so things might be completely different now.
