    It's my mum's dodge caravan

I love this line, works on so many levels. It really is such an underrated song, hate how people call that and Archers bad or not as good just because they're more straightforward rock as they're brilliant

I've always heard I'm on my way out at the end of Noro. I'm baffled that some people still think they hear I'm on my way to hell

  4. Ditto. Great "straightforward" rock songs. Gimme either of those over "Mene" or "Nightmare" in that category. That guitar tone. That rolling drum sound.

    Let it run Supporter

Archers and Not the Sun are my two favorite songs from that album and the two that I return to the most, is that uncommon?

I love it because it morphs into "You will not listen"

    Such a beautiful song.

I love Archers, but I can't stand Not the Sun. I find that chorus really annoying and I'd like the album more if that song just weren't on it.

Not The Sun is the most under-rated song in Brand New's catalog. Best bridge ever in every way. lyrically, musically, the whole sha-bang.

I think it's unfair to compare their latest two singles to their absolute pinnacle from a decade ago. It's kind of like comparing the John Lennon of Just Like Starting Over to the guy who wrote Come Together a decade earlier, both good songs but comparing the two there's always going to be one head and shoulders above the other.

Love it much in the same way - have a feeling "nightmare" will end up being under appreciated in a similar way.

I truly believed placed as like an 8th track on the right album nightmare could be great...just would hate to see them shift their whole sound in that direction

lol I want to hear the thought process that went into coming up with this assertion because I'm incredibly curious and also confused as to how you can determine this with such specificity to the 8th track being appropriate placement

I dunno, don't think it's that weird to say this feels like a back half of the album type of track. I don't think he literally meant it should only be track 8.

    Shut the FFFFFFRESHFISH UP

That's interesting because I kind of figured this would be a first half song, like second or third, depending on the intro. I was playing "Mene" into "Nightmare" yesterday (just because "Mene" would be a good opening track, not because I think it'll be on the album) and it sounds pretty good that way. "Nightmare" ends in a way that whatever follows it can take any number of directions in terms of heaviness/brightness/straightforwardness/abstractness/etc.

But I like the idea of it being a back half track too, honestly.

That bridge man...definitely one of my favourite moments on the album. Can't think of a better bridge at all tbh

I came home last night and my wife and 2yr old were dancing around to nightmare like they were grooving out at Dave Matthews Band concert - this song will forever be attached to that moment for me thus making it awesome - sometimes the environment in which you process something in means everything

Actually had this discussion with friends over the weekend and we were split 50/50. Were the actual lyrics ever confirmed?

they were confirmed by a fan who asked Jesse but i can never remember which it was. but he said something like he'd wished he had thought of the other so i think of it interchangeably

    Give what you can.

I feel like I'm late to the party and everyone else is already drunk and reminiscing.

That said, I can count on zero hands the times this band has given me what I expected. The song definitely didn't blow my mind through the back of my skull, but it's a crunchy little rock nugget and that's right in my wheelhouse. This'll be fun to hear live.
