    Regular

Are there any sick breakdowns tho

  2. "Wake Me" reminds me of "Wake Up" by Thrice when both bands wrote a super radio chorus with similar words. Heh.

  3. Yeah, it's definitely slower/more anthematic than it is heavy. Quite a very clean singing songs which surprised me on first listen.

    Are there more "fuck"s?

    Any really heavy songs?
Does The album have any Aaron vs Spencer melodies and hooks?

Yes, you'll like "Sink With You."

I'm sure it's really hard to compare, but does it sound like a mixture of any of their past albums?
    (Sorry if that's been asked)

Word gotcha. They said people would be pissed off by it on that podcast, so when I heard that I was like “all right it’s probably not a ripper.”

Is there *anything* on there that is exceptionally heavy or would you say the verses of On My Teeth are basically the peak?

Edit: wasn’t caught up and didn’t see your answer above.

    Hmmmm. Cautiously optimistic.

I enjoyed the single, and when Thrice went the same route (to an extent) it worked out super well in their favor, but I'm in the camp of "the got better/heavier with each album", so we'll see.

  12. I can see why they said that. There's songs on it I think are ... bad.

"You're the only thing that gets me high and I hate it" from "ihateit" is one of those choruses that makes me roll my eyes. Nice heavy bridge though.

There's some "heavy" stuff but it's not the same type of of heavy as on their last album. "Hold Your Breath" is the kinda song my GF would tell me to turn off though. Heh.

  13. P.S. I believe "wide" advances went out today, so others will probably hear / be sharing thoughts too. Curious what other fans/writers think of this.

    I expect ... strong reactions.

seems like tim's role in the band is diminished, which is a bummer

Okay..... this worries me a lil :|

Hopefully it’s just a matter of taste and I don’t think they suck

@Jason Tate so it’s very melodic, with some really catchy hooks. I think this will answer people’s question more, are there a lot of really cool guitar riffs? Or is it mostly powerhordy straight ahead playing?

It's weird because each Underoath album is different, but a progression of sorts.

I wonder how this album lands in that progression. If it's like a mix of their past at all.

  20. I mean, I don't like this style of music the way others do. Like, I don't listen to BTBAM, Protest the Hero, or Periphery on anything close to a regular basis ... and I haven't listened to Emery in like four albums. So, take that with a grain of salt. The whole radio rock look at our anthem chorus isn't really my style, so those moments are more the "oh are we going to commercial during a college basketball game?" ...

  22. I'm the wrong person to ask about what's a "cool" guitar riff in regard to Underoath, I've always liked their drum/bass combo the best ... where it's in the chest like on DTGL. I'm drawn to like Strung Out and A Wilhelm Scream's type of guitar riffs.

    @Jason Tate
From what you've picked up from the lyrics is the album's criticism of religion more juvenile or measured?

  25. Relistening from the start to remember ... yeah the guitar riff in the first song is great.
