I wanted to go to that soooo bad. I didn’t end up seeing them till they did their Something To Write Home About reunion! One of my all time favorite bands easily

mine was when I was between 15-20 probably. trying to force a new one now, but I've been on a "new music hiatus" for about 10 years before last year.

 

streaming has made it so easy, i agree.

Did it really hit harder? this is something i think about a lot. Looking back on it, it maybe seemed like it did... but did it really? in 10 years will you look back on your early 20s and think the same thing about now? I dno, i think about albums id consider "my favorite albums ever"... lots of them come from the last 3 years.

10 year hiatus of music? thats crazy haha.

This is an interesting one, because i know why you said this - because i made some posts last week that could seem like i feel like im in a rut. but actually, its almost the opposite. i think right now, im in like a "~~~second or third wave" of discovery for myself. where im feeling a style shift and its causing me to look harder for music and be more picky with it. but with that, comes this fresh excitement when i find what im looking for. and its also interesting because unlike some style shifts in the passed, im not liking things i already like any less. i still love the things ive always loved. BUT when it comes to finding new music, thats where things are changing for me. What i am looking for and what i want in music is changing, just a bit.

 

When we gonna have a group call?

 

Middle school is one I first really started to identify with a favorite genre, that being “rock,” but that mostly meant choosing a radio station.
High school I discovered the scene and the number of bands I listened to exploded thanks to limewire.
I was then pretty cozy in my tastes for a long time until Apple Music and I’d call this a second prime. I still don’t have the most expansive tastes and as someone else noted, it doesn’t hit as hard as it used to, but it’s nice to appreciate new music on a different level. And when you do discover a new classic, you have money to buy vinyl variants.

 

This is the most important question

I was hoping you would say this.

 

yeah I mean I listened to music all the time, just stopped seeking out new music except for like a handful of bands/albums that I still followed closely like Thursday, Circa Survive, and Brand New.

I would just rotate my favorite 50-75 favorite albums and always listen to those since I couldn't bring myself to listen to new stuff.

also when streaming TV was possible I got obsessed with watching all the tv shows that I never watched as a kid.
