Last week's episode was the first I had seen since like October. It was good, I just find it hard to keep interest in the show, especially with how the writing has been and the decisions made bts.

From a character writing perspective. How do the writers expect people to be rooting for rick when they use Negan and other characters to constantly remind the viewers how terrible of a person and leader he has been at least since the saviors.

At first you wonder if Negan’s comments to rick about his failures is just a mind game to get a surrender, but honestly Negan isn’t wrong. But sure, we want all out war to end with rick winning? It doesn’t feel emotionally congruent.

I've been saying this ever since Negan has been around, compared to Rick's group, Negan and the Saviors aren't even that bad of people. Nowhere near as bad as Rick and his group. Rick and his group have gone into Negan's sanctuaries and literally stabbed everyone there in the head while they were sleeping. For retaliation, Negan only killed 2 of Rick's guys, and was only planning to kill 1 until Darryl got out of hand. Negan even advised Simon to just kill one of the Garbage people, and not the whole group after the Saviors were betrayed.

The whole balance dynamic is off, which is one of the reasons the show is laughable.

Rick's group kills "every" Saviors in their sleep after they did nothing to them: "Ah, that's what you get for bothering that other group we just knew existed and don't really care about!"

Negan kills two people in return, when he could have easily killed everyone: "OH MY GOD, THAT GUY IS A MONSTER!!!!"

Ehhh idk. Enslavement and killing to make a message is pretty bad. Negan is a complete narcissist, which is the opposite of Rick. On top of that, Rick's group did it as a favor to the hilltop, because they were hungry and needed help. Negan's group also were collecting photos of dead people who's heads looked like Abraham's.

But yeah, after about a season i'd say Rick's group killed plenty more.

Yeah negan has the people slaved working for him and his wives. And the intimidation of surrounding groups hence just killing one. But get the point of less killing that rick had done

I like the idea of everything they're doing, I just dislike the execution, which has really been my complaint about the series since season 1.

Really liked the work put in by the actor playing Gabriel though, I completely bought his sorrow at the end

Holy shit was last night’s episode so bad. So many laughable scenes. The entire Gabriel storyline was atrociously bad. Going blind but nails a Walker square in the head from 20 feet away? LOL OK!

What’s her name (honestly don’t even care or remember) trying to kill Dwight, but misses a point blank shot 2 feet away, then catches up to him 20 seconds later and doesn’t shoot him ASAP?

Judith looks like she’s aged 5 years in two seasons yet Maggie’s stomach still isn’t showing???

Honestly I think this half-season so far has been the best since they arrived in Alexandria. I mean it still has its flaws, but it shows more potential. And last night's episode was really good.

i cannot imagine a scenario where negan flips his car and manages not to be cut at all or completely doused head to toe in blood. and yet...

That episode was cool. Really liking Simon as a character atm - his scenes with Dwight were great, where you could see the hamster wheel turning in Dwight's brain trying to figure him out and how to use Simon's apparent disloyalty to Negan to his advantage. Pretty much everything Savior-related is more interesting to me than Rick's group at this point lol.

    Pressure's mountin' but I don't Everest

Of all the horrible, over-the-top dumb characters the Walking Dead has trotted out on this crumbling show, I think those hat-wearing bodyguards have to be the lamest. So fucking stupid.

Episode was decent, though, which is far more than I can normally say. 2 for 4 this half season. I'll take it.

It really is a fairly decent episode; stuff happens and the story advances, with interesting character twists, so I'd say it's a worthwhile watch. Not sure how many of these episodes we'll get this season, but hopefully there's more
