have You ever listened to The Julianna Theory?

 

Well them being an opener is a big piece to leave out! A lot of people don't show up for openers

 

I'm always surprised how many people don't, it feels rude not to plus what if you discover a new band that way

 

It's almost embarrassing sometimes how few people are there for openers.

Hi guys. Writing class today.

 

Bleachers supported Paramore last month and while the floor was full, the seats were quite empty. Going early to shows is great and I'll never go late

 

I always get there to see the openers. Partly because I’m short and need to get close, and I like the merch tables. But I ask like to see new bands I haven’t heard before

 

the bad spot is less of a thing for me because I usually gravitate towards the back for GA shows because I get anxious in front when it's too packed

I like getting to the front if the crowd is chilled but if they're pushing / getting aggressive, I'm out of there. Also hate that anxiety if it's too packed

I still get the same thrill being up front as I do when I first started going to shows. I’m afraid to try one from further back even though my body aches more nowadays. The aches also make me dread openers. Far more often than not I don’t care for them or they’re outright bad. It was nice in the hot topic days when you knew all the bands on the bill.

 

I ache more nowadays too but I want to be close and to see the openers. I usually take Work off the day after a show though lol

Me on a concert day:

The days before I’ve listened to their discography on full to get psyched. I may or may not have looked into the openers to do the same.

Eat and head to the venue

Arrive an hour to 45 minutes before the doors open and get in line as early as I can.

Go to the merch table if I am buying a shirt; If I’m not or when I’m done I get as close of a spot as I can, my friend grabbing a close spot if I went with him; with my fiancée people are more generous to move for us. This usually nets me a spot up front.

If I have to go to the bathroom, I do it now before people pile on the floor. My friend or fiancée Hold my spot and I do the same for them.

I hold said spot during all opening act and main act. If people mosh I make sure to not get into that shit because my moshing days ended when I was 23.

Stay for encore. Let most leave before me in case band comes back out to hang

 

Last few shows that I’ve been to where I started the show in the front, I’ve moved to the back by like 3 songs in lol.

Mines pretty identical except I usually go alone now and my days of showing up before doors ended like 4 years ago haha

 

I mean I've had to do it a few times to catch a train but the encore always has the biggest songs that's the point of an encore

 

Man I wish Saosin still opened for everybody

 

I still do! Like next week I’m seeing Starset, doors open at 6:30 I’ll be there at 5:15-5:30 lol
