I don't think Alex Garland is going to work with Paramount again after how they tried to fuck with this movie and its release

I didn't really like this much. Disappointed. Didn't find this nearly as creepy and impactful and most people seem to.

I've got no desire to see Red Sparrow. Mainly because I'm really tired of American actors doing shitty Russian accents.

If I've got nothing to do some afternoon, I might catch it with moviepass.

  14. FINALLY caught this in my hometown theater because it wasn't anywhere near me and I'm so, so glad I did. There are things I loved, things I didn't love and things I still haven't quite made sense of, but as an overall experience: wow. The visuals. The cast. THE SCORE. Everything about this was just so unique and beautiful and unsettling. I can't remember ever seeing something in theaters quite like it. Garland is 2/2.

update: it's been over a week and my boyfriend will not stop going "wah wah wah wah" at everything trying to imitate the noise in the alien theme.

My understanding was that there were parts of Kane that were still him and he used those skeletons from his expedition team as a warning.

Very interesting movie, the bear scene was really a wtf moment. I thought the end clone scene was haunting and sticks to me more as a term of unsettling. There could have been so many more possibilities of messed up creatures they could have had a field day with.

This may have been discussed here already but did it sound to anyone else like Oscar Isaac had a southern accent in the lighthouse scene?

I’ve seen this twice and I still want to see it again. Mostly just for The Lighthouse sequence, but I can’t stop thinking about it.

Seeing this a second time was like a different experience knowing what you know by the end.

Especially Portman’s character being a unreliable narrator. The dreams she has in The Shimmer that I guess are meant as flashbacks transform the characters, like Oscar Isaac’s character changing from her husband with the curly hair to the slicked back clone when he leaves her. Made me question if she actually had an affair or had guilty feelings.

Also, I missed a lot of the references to the one cell becoming two (outside of the obvious), like in the song that plays. And (I could be looking too hard into this) but when she holds hands with Isaac’s character it kind of looks like cells mutating.

That said, I really enjoyed a second time.
