I think it's pretty cliché, but probably because I used to write stuff like that and I have this feeling if I can come up with it, it's not good ... haha, but more than that I think the entire rhyming scheme there with bead/need and smack/attack is just a lazy pattern with lyrics that don't actively push the theme of the song forward. They feel like couplets written separately and just tossed together. Never liked it. Even though I really like that song as whole.

Haha I totally get what you mean. I used to think Jesse was THE best lyricist ever. As I've gotten older I've realized how I consistant he can be... Moments of brilliance coupled with some really lackluster stuff. I have learned that bad lyrics doesn't necessarily mean a bad song, but it's taken me a long to get here

 

New song sounds like a re-recorded YFW B-side. Not a fan.

 

I see what you're saying, but I always thought the "you're the apple of my eye anyway" rejoinder slightly redeemed that verse.

 

That would be basically exactly how I would describe him. But I'd say he leans more toward brilliance whereas Vin does the opposite and leans more toward meh-city with side of salsa (some flashes of great stuff).

I don't think lyrics will ever ruin, or make, a song for me, but they definitely have a strong pull in taking me to a specific place. If I really like a song, and it's got great lyrics, I think it's a great song (sup, Thursday), if I really like a song and it's got mediocre lyrics it'll usually just stay in the good and enjoyable category.

 

I think I don't get Thursday completely and I really want to :(

Do we know who even wrote I Am a Nightmare? I know iTunes usually lists it in the metadata, but I bought it from Bandcamp.

 

If you like La Dispute it shouldn't be that hard to get into Thursday, especially their earlier stuff.

I'm willing to bet it's Jesse 100%, it fits into the relationship theme of Sealed To Me almost too well for it not to be.

To me this was always a section of the song that seemed to take you back to childhood or something, I guess that's just how I interpreted it

 

Some folks on the subreddit have been saying it's playing the new/"prime" version (and that it isn't pulling it from their computers). It supposedly just replaced the one that was there without any changes to the title or track listing itself. As I'm typing this though, it's still playing the old one for me too.

 

I don't trust reddit

 

I just think it would be weird that some people are getting the new version and others aren't. I would hope they wouldn't just replace it with the new version, I like them both and want them to coexist lol.

----I was lucky enough to see Archers and Play Crack in Chicago 10/03/09...Amazing. Archers will always be a top 3....but no Sic Transit? I think it will always be a topper because I can remember watching it on Fuse when I was a 16 year old..pre emo..pre ugh...with my "boyfriend" at the time and actually HATING IT.but now..one of my favorites to watch live. Weird.

I mean..I guess it could happen?
