I have nothing against first date, but I agree as far as it being a subpar single. Easily would've chosen every time I look for you.

Was that response necessary? I issued a disclaimer up top how random the thought was.

I actually don't mind first date though it isn't the first single of theirs I turn to by any means. It's actually my second least favorite track of theirs. I don't know why but ATST ranks lower for me lol

A few bigwigs decided to drop in at my work about 2 minutes before I was supposed to leave...all I can think of is, "I'm not cominggg hooooomee."

    Sleekest of beaks. So Good.

Plus they were pretty poor quality phone streams, which is never good to judge that kind of thing based off.

A silver variant is up for this album.

    I can't do it.

Bored to Death is written in C (I'd estimate that over half of blink's catalogue is written in C). To argue Mark had a bad night is one thing but to suggest Feldy prioritised the key over the bands ability to play it live is a bit ridiculous.

Agreed. I don't think that it's out of his range at all, I think it just takes some time for some people to figure out how to perform a song live. There can be difference between giving studio performances versus live performances. I think that's probably the case here with Mark's vocals.

They are also just poor quality recordings taken probably on a phone, really hard to judge by that.

I was at weenie roast. The crowd went crazy when they came out and they sounded great, those videos don't do their performance justice. Was surprised by how many people in the crowd that were singing Bored to death, but kroq's been playing it a bunch.

That's good to hear, I was pretty disappointed by the video, honestly. But I'm not happy with most live videos of any band.

  16. Damn, band got absolutely destroyed on quite a few major publications today that were actually pretty positive to "California."

I was never a big fan of either song...they kind of felt different from the rest of toypaj, kind of obvious they were written to be singles. My biggest beef with them was that I always compared them to the enema singles and really they just couldn't hold up.

My least favorite single for toypaj (and maybe overall) is stay together.

  23. If you read either of those and get the idea those writers would write a positive thing about the band ... heh. That Noisey article destroyed them.
The whole thing's a little sad. “Bored To Death,” the first track from California, possessed some of Blink’s essential qualities, chunky power chords and inquisitive hooks. Just for a moment, it was seductive. But the lyrics were almost unbelievably childish, the sound of a grown-ass man trying to comprehend his existence through high school journal rhymes.

And now this. A 14-second song called “Built This Pool” that they’ve decided to put on a ten hour fucking loop because apparently we haven’t all suffered enough as a generation. The lyrics to the song are as follows: “I wanna see some naked duuuuudes/ That’s why I built this poooool.” Mark Hoppus strains his voice up to a “Woo-oo” a couple times too for some reason. “Is that really it?” a voice asks at the end. You bet it is, man!

I saw Blink when they reunited five years ago at a show at London’s Brixton Academy. Everyone in the room was too cool to go to the front until Travis Barker descended from the ceiling playing the intro to “Feeling This” and everybody—everybody—lost it. That’s what this band is capable of when they fancy it. But as the night wore on, there began to be something weird about seeing a bunch of grown men make dick jokes between every song with an audience that was mostly out of puberty standing in front of them. Their kids were cross-legged at the side of the stage. Nobody really wanted to hear the dick jokes and I don’t know that the band enjoyed making them, but there they were, making dick jokes anyway.

And now this. Naked dudes! Can you imagine? With their dicks and balls and butts and stuff.
