can't be made fun of Prestigious

he debuted Neptune and Proof of Life last night, and with that i think all Sleepwalkers songs have found their way into the rotation.

Songs that are growing on me (as BF songs always do):

    Her Majesty
    Come Wander With Me
    Etta James

I already commented on "bank robber" as one of my favorite vocal parts of the album, but I also love the last time through the chorus on Watson when he alters the way he sings it.......... "chase the one that GOT AWAAAAAAAAY".

That "bank robber" part irks me and I don't know why. The delivery is alright I just feel like the line falls flat, especially after the evocative parts about his mother.

Even though I love the song, the opening riff for “If Your Prayers” sounds like the guitar riff from the esurance commercial.

I like the line as written I just don't like the delivery of it.

I've thought this from the first second I heard the song, but didn't want to be the guy to say it.

Incidentally, that's probably my least favorite on the record. Still a good if not great song, but something has to be #12, and I think that's it for me.

Saw some videos of sleepwalkers live. sounds so weird without the horns. Love the horns in it.

Did anyone get the prints? I rushed through them so quick they wound up out of order and now i have to figure out which one is which song.

You already got your order? I emailed them and they said it’ll be weeks before mine even ships. I’m so bitter about it :(

I really love this part of the album:

We can cry together through the bad dreams
We can cry together through the bad dreams
Through the nightmare that is the waiting and..........(ROCK GUITARS)

I am so torn - on one hand I really love Brian Fallon's vibe and his songwriting in general, but on the other I find with this album that his sound is becoming a bit predictable. There are a few great tunes as per usual ("Forget Me Not" is probably the best jam) but this sounds prettymuch like I thought it would and that's slightly disappointing. I don't find myself moved by much on this album yet.

  17. I’m pretty much with you there. I haven’t had a desire to go back to this album in a while.

i beat this thing into the ground and have stepped away from it a bit, but i love it. i don't agree with a lot of folk's favorites, but it's a great listen and there are a lot of themes that really hit home for me. i would def place it over Painkillers when viewed as a whole but Painkillers has higher highs.

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

I don't think it's predictable at all, there's very few songs on this that would've sounded at home on Painkillers. His experimenting with horns and keys was also something interesting that I hope he continues to do in the future. I guess I don't know what direction people were expecting/wanting him to go in?

I still think this is incredible

Does anyone know what vinyl he has with him on tour? I'm assuming he definitely has this so I'll just get it from him there. Painkillers and Elsie would be cool

Yeah, I'm ready to put this ahead of Painkillers, which I adore. Not by a HUGE margin, but this is better.

I could see this being as high as #3 on my overall BF list when all is said and done (ahead of even Handwritten potentially, behind '59 and Slang)

I feel the exact opposite way right now -- I think the new one has higher highs (Etta James, Watson in particular). For his non-Gaslight records I'd still rank Elsie first though. Sugar, Ladykiller, Crush and Blood Loss are among his very best songs.

I do think this album reinvents the wheel a little bit, but it's still solid and consistently good throughout. The strength of the songs make up for it.

This gets better and better for me with each
listen. I am head over heels in love with Watson at this point. I love everything about this album.
