That's EXACTLY how I've thought of those three albums. Did I get that from somewhere? Or is it just understood that they all carry that vibe?

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

Well LITSOS is pretty upfront about it with titles like "Emergency Broadcast :: The End is Near" and "Desolate Earth" lol

I can't speak for others, but listening to that album (obsessively) was when I first started thinking there was an apocalyptic story sort of running through. When "Illuminator" first dropped I got huge 'post-apocalyptic tribes roaming the earth' vibes from the lyrics, so I guess I extended the story out to the surrounding albums then? Obviously you can't interpret them too literally because there's a lot of lyrics specifically about Spencer's drug addiction and so on, but there's definitely a loose outline at the least that you can colour in with your own details.

Yes...but a thing isn't beautiful because it lasts

"I steady my hands, inside of my shell and wait until their backs are turned.
Inside of my head where they thought they would win, but I got them right where I want them, pushed to either side.
I'm burning them alive. I hear them, begging and pleading"

What do you think this last bit of Catch Myself Catching Myself in in reference to? I've looked at it from the simple viewpoint that the lyrics are about temptation, as if addictions had manifested their own manic voices, but am curious to know if other users have a separate interpretation.

I always read it as just referring to dark thoughts and negative influence, but that’s admittedly probably my own projections. I am weary sometimes though of prescribing a known album theme to every last lyric.

That’s also one of my favorite lyrics/parts on the album.

I have never loved Disambiguation more than I do now after having revisited their discography. I've always had it below Define and LitSoS, but now I feel like I could make a good case for any of their last three records being their best.

yeah Disambig absolutely slaps. It would probably take my top spot except for two nitpicks (slight repetitiveness in songwriting towards the second half, and some of Spencer's high screams don't sound too great at all). still in terms of lyrics, production and overall atmosphere it's pretty much their peak

This is exactly where I’m at right now. Define the Great Line is still my favorite but I have a whole new love and appreciation for Disambiguation.

Listening to Disambiguation a ton this week made me realize how much I want an Underoath/O’Brother tour

What’s everyone’s favorite Underoath riff? The one starting at 0:35 in Everyone Looks So Good From Here is up there for me.

I don’t know if I’ve ever been more proud of my guitar playing than when I learned the opening of In Regards to Myself when I was 15. What a way to start an album.

i actually didn't like that riff for years; i didn't come to really like it until quite recently; and then i learned it on guitar too haha
