I'll probably buy a ticket for just the Deftones day at this point, never seen em and have been dying to. Anyone else that plays on that day is a bonus

  2. DeathOrGlory

    Just a friendly reminder

I think I just might have to travel to Chicago for this.

The more I look at the lineup, the more I catch bands that I missed the previous time. They knocked it out of the park with this one.

    I'm also thinking:
    ???- AFI
    ??????????- Yellowcard

Oh fuuuuuck if that's the case then AFI is almost certainly at Denver too. (Sorry, I keep popping into the Chicago thread even though I'm only going to Denver this year)

I thought that at one point, but I think it's highly unlikely. AFI is certainly not big enough to be at the top of the lineup, plus they played a few years back, so I imagine if the big reveal was for those two, it'd be a pretty disappointing surprise.

Ha, yeah, good point. When I think three letters, AFI is the first place my mind goes

We need to remember that the marks do not correspond to the letters. We went down that road a few years ago and it did not pan out. They sometimes have been close in length, but they also can totally redo the poster so everything fits onto new lines. My guess is that it will be a short name on the first row, but it could be anything from 2-6 letters and still go as it is.

Not saying AFI isnt likely, but just remember the number of question marks does not correlate to the spelling of the act.
We can safely assume that the top 3 question marks are ATDI, Beck and Devo. Wouldnt except any names bigger than that.

I'm still crossing my fingers that the other headliner is NIN but it doesn't seem likely.

Now that....that's the kind of act I'm talking about.

REM have been broken up for years. If they ever reunite it's not gonna be at Riot Fest.....they couldnt afford to book them.

After the crowd shit show that nearly ruined SOAD's set last year, I do not see Rage ever playing Riot.

    ^what they said

I mean, last year the slot for SOAD was like 9 spaces for the 13 required for their name.

Really hope it's not Beck and Devo, personally. But I can't complain at this point.

I could see it being Devo. They seem pretty Riot Fest-y, if that makes sense. Though I'd prefer Beck to Devo.
Again, not that the number of ???s mean anything but At The Drive-In certainly seems long for such a short space. They would have to bump 2 or 3 acts down levels across the board.

I had a very serious conversation with myself and here are the bands I'm very excited to see. There are lots of second tier artists too, but these are the ones that will bum me out if I miss. (I know this is super self-indulgent but I bought a 3 day pass and this is the day we've looked forward to, right?!)

Moz (haven't seen in ~7 years, enormous Smiths fan)
DCFC (also haven't seen in ~7 years)
Brand New (seeing them in July too - how bonkers would it be if Brand New opened for Morrissey? I feel like Jesse would lose his shit.)
    Deftones (Never seen them before)
JEW (Saw them at Bamboozle '12 but still, you can't miss them)
    Refused (Never seen before)
NOFX (I've seen them a million times, but always put on a great show)
Underoath (Haven't seen since Warped in like '04)
MCS (Big fan - last show. Nuff said)
Thursday (Also haven't seen since like Warped '02)
Hives (Seem really fun. Will probably play like 8 songs, half of which everyone knows. Plus they probably don't make it over to the States very often.)
    Hold Steady (Never seen before)
The Wonder Years (Never seen them - Surprised not many people have been talking about them on here. Seem like a pretty big band to be so low on the list. Was NCTH not well received?)
    Gwar (See: NOFX)
    Billy Talent (Never seen before)
Turnover (Never seen before - see my username)

I think in the case for TWY, is that most of us still like them, but they tour pretty frequently. And they're definitely over shadowed on this lineup, so that doesn't help. They'll still draw a big crowd though, especially here in Chicago.

All Time Low is heading into the studio after the Blink tour, Riot Fest is probably a one-off. They're likely not gonna have a full on tour until the Winter.

Let's hold our breath until we disappear

Probably not since ATL will be touring with blink around this time.

    Tigers Jaw (saw once)
    Citizen (saw twice pre-Heaven)
Touche Amore (saw twice, one of my all-time favorite live acts, new album)
Balance and Composure (saw twice, new album)
    Turnover (never seen)
    Microwave (never seen)
    --------
    Misfits
    Moz
    Descendents
    Refused
    NOFX
    Bad Religion
    Pierce the Veil
    Thursday
    Death Grips
    Glassjaw
    The Wonder Years
    Neck Deep
    Fucked Up
    Dillinger Escape Plan
    Laura Stevenson
    Tancred

Top half are must-sees. I'll pick and choose from the bottom half, depending on how the schedule shakes out. A lot of those are legendary acts, bands I've already seen, or bands I only have a casual interest in checking out if time allows.

I am already crossing my fingers for BN to lead into Morrissey! That is a dream tour combo if there ever was one. The only reason I wouldn't want it would be the possibility that BN's set could be longer elsewhere. But still, it would be hard to top. I'm thinking about what other combos would be perfect, I'm sure there are some. Thursday to Misfits would be pretty cool, although not as much of a perfect fit.

    Give what you can.

I think it's a pretty safe bet that two of the ???'s are Beck and Devo since The Hold Steady flat out said they were playing with them at Riotfest when they made their announcement this morning. I imagine Beck is the top one and Devo is the second betwixt Descendants and Refused. Crossing my fingers that Piebald is the third.

I don't think it's totally set in stone yet, only because the same thing happened in 2014 where The Orwells sent out a photo showing that the question marks would be Motörhead, Slint, Sleeping With Sirens, and Sleepwave, and that was entirely false. It may be that they are locked in but want to keep it a secret, or it may be that the details aren't finalized. Also, am I losing my mind or did Devo play a previous RF?
