The worst will forever be my sophomore spring semester.

    Monday: 9am test, 10am 10pg paper due, 2pm test
    Tuesday: 11am test, 1:30pm test
Wednesday: 9am 8pg paper due, 10am test, 2pm project due
    Thursday: 11am presentation, 1:30 presentation
Friday: 9am presentation on the paper, 10am presentation on the paper, 2pm paper due.

This wasn't a midterm or finals week. Literally all five classes just aligned on some unsuspecting early-April week and wrecked me.

ehh... I'm not, but there are other reasons in life that contribute to that.

no cubicle. I do have plenty of time to chat all day with you nice folks and listen to music tho. so not bad.

I dislike cubicles because it makes working with co-workers difficult (which for me is almost a daily necessity). However, sometimes you really wish you could just focus and shut the door on everyone else so I'd rather an office than a cubicle since I can still be bothered in the latter lol

I've had an office and a cubicle, and I'm 100% for the office life.

I love my cubicle. One guy never shows up. One quit and didn't get replaced. The other guy just stares blankly at a spread sheet all day.

Well I recommend you skip entry level and just apply for management positions.

  11. oh obviously an office would be better but im a history major so im being realistic

In college, this was definitely the case for me, particularly if it was a subject I was interested in. I waited until the day a paper was due and managed to pump out during my two hour break. The professor then used my paper as an example for the rest of the class. These days, I can't find anything inside my soul to make me give a damn about the reports I need to file at work.

That makes them more crucial. You can't pretend your work exists in a vacuum when you can search and find work that overlaps with yours with three clicks of a mouse. You have to engage the work of others.

Oh I know, but I'm not cut out for management so that won't happen heh. Mostly just wishful thinking :p

That's a good point I hadn't thought of. Are research papers not typically just basically copying and pasting quotes? Because that's what I was taught they are but from reading this thread it seems that's not actually typically the case. Which makes me feel like I look real dumb right now haha

At least for my students, it's supposed to be using the work of others to support an interpretation that you have of the text.

Which, at their level, where I'm just teaching them the process, doesn't amount to much. Their thesis has probably been argued 100000x times. But it's learning how to engage the work of others to support your claims, which I wish I had more of before I hit college and grad school.

In mine, we actually got in trouble if we quoted too much. It's probably a major-by-major basis.

Holy Fuck are an instrumental band, definitely worth checking out the album Latin, Ra Ra Riot are enjoyable, kinda inconsistent but maybe fun live, that's all I got

It definitely did make me feel guilty, but sort of justified as well, given that I hated the class I was in at the time.

    Re: writing impulse

A blog perhaps. Easier said than done, I suppose. Every time I start one, I end up not updating it at all because of other commitments. Haha.

That's fine actually. It's a common misconception I think most of us have come across.
