Yep, I can't imagine any other scenario. 311 brings a respectable summer tour crowd but it's still only about 1/3 or 1/4 of blink's.

Like I said, definitely not sold on them touring with blink either way but it will be with a bigger act, regardless.

When blink did the headlining tours with Green Day in 2002 and No Doubt in 2004, did they switch who closed out the shows? The two concerts I saw blink closed both so I guess I just assumed they closed all of the shows on that tour.

    Things have changed.

Blink closed every night of Pop Disaster.

When they came here with No Doubt in 2004 they played first. When they co-headlined with My Chemical Romance in 2011 they closed every night though.

If this 311 tour is happening, they'll give them the "co-headlining" bill out of respect but Blink will close every night and probably play for longer.

    This sounds right.

I would honestly be halfway interested in seeing Goldfinger (aka the John Feldmann band), but I assume people just threw them into the mix because of his connection to 311 and blink. I have listened to Goldfinger for 15+ years but for some reason, I don't even think about today's Feldy as being the same person.

  7. They switched back and forth I believe.

  8. So jealous. BTW, I love playing Waggy. It's a lot of fun.

No idea. My guess is it was bought when Tom auctioned off his gear and that person ended up reselling it.

Nope, Blink closed every night. And Green Day wiped the floor with them every night.

I thought I read somewhere that Green Day might have closed their hometown shows in Oakland and/or San Francisco but couldn't find anything on it. In 2002 I guess it made sense blink would close all of those shows.

I never knew blink and No Doubt switched until I found a bootleg from a 2004 show and blink said No Doubt is coming up next. I just assumed because blink was the bigger band at the time they would close all of the shows.

  15. Yeah I am reading back on some articles about the tour now and it sounds like Green Day was looking at that tour as a way to reclaim their status as the "top" punk band or whatever. They were kind of fading and Blink was in their prime with TOYPAJ coming out, so I guess that explains why Blink closed every night.

  16. I do wish they'd do that tour again. Green Day would be closing, haha. And get JEW in on there!!

Oh sign me up for sure. I'm still mad I missed Jimmy Eat World as the opener when I saw them, I think their tour cycle ended two shows before mine. Ended up with Saves The Day and they were pretty forgettable.

Honest question though is blink as popular as Green Day now? Their albums came out the same year but don't remember Green Day's getting as much hype or attention as blink did. Looking at Wikipedia (granted not the best site for accuracy) but California sold almost double Revolution Radio did in the US and I know Green Day did a few tours for the album but don't remember it being as big as blink's. It seems like blink is back on the rise again.

If they did do another Pop Disaster Tour, and they absolutely should, I'd guess that they would switch on and off.

No, they are nowhere near as popular

  19. Yeah American Idiot alone should be enough to fill a stadium with Green Day fans right?

Green Day messed up by not doing a 20-year Dookie/10-year American Idiot combo anniversary tour in 2014 and I will never forgive them.

I was in the 3rd grade when I went to the Pop Disaster Tour. It headlined a huge radio festival in Hartford that year with Sugarcult, Good Charlotte, and many other bands I was far too young to appreciate at the time.

Green Day was bar none the best live band of that entire day and my Dad couldn't believe how great they were. Blink came out and sounded god awful by comparison..

OH, and Saves The Day played before Green Day.. insane.

edit: Just realized Andrew W.K. played as well.. this was just around the time when I Get Wet was released.. what a show

The more I look into who played, the more I'm upset that I wasn't in my teens at the time.

    The Used, Unwritten Law..

How did all these great bands of the time play the same show!?

Yeah I have the handout from that day with the lineup on it somewhere. Great day. Tim from Sugarcult signed it too haha.
