Your avatar is one of my fave albums ever. I saw them in front of maybe twenty people and the singer brought me on stage for Convalescence. It was incredible.

It sucked that everyone left after Veil of Maya.

 

I'm contemplating changing my avatar as well but I like this dragon a bit too much.

Haha, I had no idea there was another metal thread.

 

Popping in to the new official metal thread to say I've been listening to Isis a lot lately, as well as Deftones and Russian Circles.

I owe a ton to Deftones for showing me what metal music could sound like with White Pony beyond some of the dumb hard rock and metalcore I listened to in high school. If it weren't for them, I'm not sure when or if I would have gotten into bands like Isis, Russian Circles, and Deafheaven, among others. The rest is history.

Also, are any Philly peeps in here going to the Russian Circles tour with King Woman at Union Transfer? If so, let's headbang together.

 

Can we combine the hardcore thread in here too? That thread gets a ton of people from here as well.

 

New Dimmu Borgir song. My intial reactions to it are as follows:

1) So spooky. Aww.

2) Tribulation put out an album that did this sound earlier this year minus the symphonic aspects of it, and it sounded a lot better. That said, this song is perfectly inoffensive black n' roll with some ethereal elements.

3) I've never seen a happier person in a black metal band than the stage right guitarist in this video. Dude looks like he is about to make sweet gothic love to his guitar.

 

a few early morning takes in response to this:

1) considering how hard it was to catch her, chansey is overrated as fuck. blissey is pretty cool though but that gets us out of gen 1.

2) zapdos is unequivocally the best legendary bird.

3) i want a seel/dewgong for a pet.

I have one of those word games on my phone and I get irrationally upset when it doesn't accept 'seel' as a word even when I damn well know that it's 'seal' and I'm not a pokemon master

 

Starmie is the best Gen 1 Pokemon, hands down.

Also re: the Hardcore Thread, while I defs feel there is some crossover in terms of fan demographic, I feel like that might result in a thread with content a bit too big for its britches, as it were. Hardcore is a distinct enough genre from metal to warrant its own thread - and I don't think the inevitable hardcore discussions that happen in this thread are indicative of a fusion being needed, hah. The genres are different, true, but they're cousins, so I think it's to be expected.

 

yeah theres a lot of stuff thats hardcore that wouldnt fit here at all. for example, going off the above poster, american nightmare would stick out in this thread

 

when this site first launched i didnt know there was a regular metal thread so i carried over the black/sludge/doom/post/death thread i had made on AP over to here
