Hot take: Somewhere in Neverland is terrible

 

Cringy? Yeah. Terrible? Nah

 

It's definitely better than Reckless and the Brave, which is a great drum song and not much else.

 

The druns on Soldier though

 

This album hasn’t aged super well for me. I still like it, but it’s at best my fourth favorite record in their discography, and I don’t return to it that much.

 

Alright, gave Don't Panic my first ever listen. Here's my votes.

Canals - Really love this song. I enjoy the energy of So Long Soldier, but didn't like that song's ending.

Paint You Wings - I don't think either song in this match-up is amazing, really, but Paint You Wings is better as a whole. Perfectly enjoyable song, but I probably wouldn't add it to a playlist or anything. Booze I don't think I'll ever go back to.

To Live and Let Go - Really enjoyable track! It resonated with me a bit more than Backseat Serenade, on first listen, though I understand why Backseat Serenade seems to be popular here.

Thanks to You - Great track! This was a super easy decision - Lifesaver doesn't really do a ton for me. Chorus on Lifesaver is weaksauce; the bridge is its only redeeming factor.

Outlines - Such a great track. This was an easy decision. A Love Like War isn't bad, by any means, but I find Vic's vocals a bit grating.

Somewhere in Neverland - What a jam! The lyrics resonate with me like hell - cause it describes how I was feeling about six months ago and so I can relate to it on a higher level for sure. And bringing it around with the Peter Pan angle is super cool. Love it! Reckless is an enjoyable song, on its own merit, but doesn't quite match up with Somewhere in Neverland. If it was in a different pairing, it might have made it further.

Oh, Calamity! - Tough match-up, both are good songs. Oh, Calamity! resonated with me more on first listen though.

If These Sheets Were States - Tough match-up. For Baltimore is good, and I really enjoy the chorus, but Sheets is more exciting to me and a standout track. Love it!
