yes, at this point. bc the team burnt the bridge with him. woj and lowe’s reporting weeks ago indicated as much. he was healthy and ready to play but the team didn’t think on the same page and that’s when the initial story of kawhi being unhappy came out. cmon.

It'd be better if they just changed the first round to best of five and the top seed only has win two of the first three. Obviously that would hurt revenue though, so it won't happen.

 

This is a better idea than what Simmons has proposed though. I think you have to shorten the regular season by a few games for the players to agree.

 

They should do Simmons dumb idea but then also remove the Celtics from the league

 

My favorite entertaining but obviously terrible playoff idea is the playoff draft:

The teams that make the playoffs get to select one player from a non-playoff team in their conference to play for them during the postseason. Eighth seed picks first. After the postseason, those players have to go back to their respective teams.

It's a horrible idea for many reasons, but imagine the Pelicans getting the eighth seed and then getting to add Devin Booker to their roster to take on Golden State.

 

I just feel like the NBA doesn't need more playoff teams. Less would be better even.

Also Simmons idea is fucking dumb because why would players play hard for a high draft pick who could replace them? At least this idea is playoff related.

 

How about imagining the Pels miss the playoffs, the Jazz are the 8 seed, and draft AD.

The Jazz can play Gobert and AD, which would make scoring inside near impossible, or have AD at the 5 when they go smaller.

And the Jazz already move the ball crazy well. It’d be so much fun!

Or... they could just stretch the season out longer, get more smaller market teams that deserve it on nat. tv because of it and not have stupid gimmicks that force players to play pointless games.

 

Does the NBA have a flex rule like the NFL for nationally televised games?
