Every situation is different, so who am I to say? But this new girl sounds super rad and she asked you out which is also awesome. It doesn’t even have to be anything more than a fun time. Meeting new people is just healthy

Jenn is the only person on earth i've been able to see marriage with. her ideals and goals are immaculately in line with mine and we have such a great level of communication. she knows when every joke is a joke, she knows when i'm upset and playing cool. but she almost got married and bought a house and looked at having babies. it wasn't that long ago. i haven't had that at all yet and i would... really like to. i think it would be smart, but i need to remind myself i only know the certainty exists on my side. we've been cute, but we haven't even touched what her adjusted view of a future might be with the added context of what has happened since we left off.

yeah this is a real possibility too. i CAN say, 110% honestly, if she were to find someone tomorrow i would still want to be her close friend. idk if she feels the same but i know my feeling that way is genuine and not a response to this.

I suggest with Jenn if you do decide to persue things with her take it slow, and see if the old problems you had with her come back.

the biggest thing for me is, i kinda think she wants all that stuff more now that she's sniffed it and lost it... and i couldn't be further from ready to give that to her. financially, emotionally, responsibly. i am still trying to refurnish my apartment with entry level Ikea furniture and going broke. i can't pretend i could even fast track getting there, it's just not realistic to put a time frame on it. maybe it's just a conversation i need to have. maybe i need to chill the fuck out and realize i'm talking about this over a date that hasn't even happened

I helped our GIS tech today locate some maps for boundary updating. She is a very nice and friendly person and I never assume any other intent unless it’s overly apparent, but a couple of times she laughed just a little too hard at the dumbs jokes I made that made me think for a split second maybe she possibly could be interested. This isn’t any sort of indication or post stating intent or assumption, just a stream of consciousness post from an overactive and anxious mind.

 

Show her your *** and she'll be hooked. Especially while she's still a pup.

In short: Cam has been asked out by a cute girl but he’s also recently started talking to an old flame and he’s unsure how to navigate this without hurting anyone’s feelings

 

totally missed the whole @Shrek situation and i don't really have anything new to add but just want to throw out there that i agree with pretty much everything @Dog with a Blog said and that you should absolutely go out for drinks with her, even with the most innocent of intentions. it's a complicated situation for sure that i don't have a ton of personal experience with, the only exes i'm on good terms with are women (where there is zero interest in rekindling a sexual relationship).
