Death metal is probably my most listened to genre for sure, to a point that it actually even surprises ME how much of it I listen to.

As for Amon Amarth, depends on what you prefer, I'd say. Me personally I'd say With Oden On Our Side or Twilight Of the Thunder God is their most solid effort, but if you're looking for a much more raw and feral sound, start at the very beginning of their discography and move onward. Fate Of Norns is well respected of their old material as well. Do be warned that the production value steadily increases as the releases carry on. Some people get bothered by it, me not so much. It's just good knowing that their sound does change a good bit. TL;DR if you like a rawer, nastier sound, start at the beginning. If you have no preference, start in the middle, as odd as it may seem.

Either way, imo, you're in for a treat. Amon Amarth is just FUN no matter where you go with them.

from the beginning, so ONCE SENT FROM THE GOLDEN HALL. amon amarth is almost depressingly consistent in their sound.

 

Today's afternoon playlist for getting ready for two shows this weekend - Decibel Mag tour on Friday (Enslaved/WITTR/Myrkur/Khemmis) and Mammoth Grinder + locals (Sick/Tired, Like Rats) on Saturday. It should hopefully be a damn good weekend for metal.

 

stoked for that Decibel tour, if only for Khemmis

 

I'm stoked to be seeing Khemmis twice in the coming months, once in town this Friday and the next at Maryland Deathfest in May. IT'S GONNA BE TIGHT.

Guess I should join up in the CMCS thread. I struggle to keep up with my current music/podcast queue already , let alone new recommendations, but it does seem like fun.

 

It really is a blast. The three of us will testify to that. You can trade with me the first week you join to make it easier.

 

I'll take the night to think of a rec and pop my head in there tomorrow when I get some free time

 

I'm probably going to wait until I'm more well-versed in genres other than extreme metal before I give CMCS a try myself, haha.

 

CMCS is the perfect way to do that. Nobody will turn your recommendations down. Hell, I gave Converge AND APMD to someone that totally doesn’t listen to that style and they wrote great reviews for them.
