Snitker is coming up from AAA.

 

The firing pisses me off. He's basically getting fired because of the moves the GM has made. But because the GM can claim well give me a couple years and you'll see I'm right where as the manager can't say my team sucks and I'm doing the best I can.

 

Well, ownership basically handed the keys to the organization to the Johns and said "do what it takes to make it work in a few years." Fredi was never Hart or Coppy's guy. They gave him a chance this season to surprise some folks and maybe do well, but it didn't happen... so the Johns are going to carry on with their plan. Fredi's had his chances. The 2011 meltdown was worthy of firing, in my opinion. The team was so fucking good that year, it shouldn't have happened.

 

Don't get how or why you fire a manager in that situation.

 

Braves were supposed to bad, but not worst team in the history of time bad. So, you gotta have a scapegoat.

 

I kinda see it as trying out a successor for awhile to see if he does a better job as opposed to signing someone who may or may not be a good fit.

 

Very fair/valid point, didn't think of that.

 

The Twitter consensus is good riddance.

 

Let's be honest though, if they really want to have a contender any time in the future, then they need a better skipper than Fredi Gonzalez.

Feel pretty indifferent about it. Not his fault they gutted the team but like doodoo said he's had a few great teams and underperformed too. Excited for Snit.

 

What are you looking for in a manager?

 

I would guess "a manager who isn't embarrassing"

Weird time to fire a manager but he's not a great one. This year's team is pretty much zero percent his fault though lol. Nobody is going to do shit with that roster.

 

He didn't just shit the bed this year. He's had opportunities to win and didn't.

 

How is it surprising to anyone that they would completely tear down a team, and as part of that, replace a manager that has been nothing more than mediocre?

 

If you're on a rebuild you have to bring in a manager who shares the same ideas as the front office. It worked well for the Rangers after parting ways with Wash.

I would have liked to see Pendleton get a shot at the interim job. Nothing against Snitker. He's earned it. But I love Pendleton - especially after he grabbed Chris Johnson by the collar and threw his punkass against the wall a couple years ago. Fuck yeah.

I think he would do a fantastic job as interim. He's been around long enough to know how to manage a team. The players respect the hell out of him too.

 

Snitker gets a promotion. Pendelon gets a promotion. Perez gets a promotion.
