LETTERS TO GOD PT 2-

No. No no no. This song. I LOVED Boxcar and Letters To God was amazing. But this? This was where Tom began his “hey guys remember that thing I used to do and did before?! Here’s something similar to it I totally promise buy my stuff” and then it starts nothing like it. This song is BAD. Here’s an ugly live reaction

 

Their latest (self titled) is my personal favorite and has their heaviest songs. I don't really keep up with politics or pay attention to what "celebrities" say but since he has some country albums out now, I can only imagine lol.

 

SOME ORIGINS OF FIRE-
I forgot about this song. This one actually was pretty good as far as AvA go. The verses flow pretty dang well, and are the strength of this song. The verse is repetitive and meh, but the riffs in the background kind of make up for that. Out of the bad AVA outros though this one is the most tolerable

 

SATURDAY LOVE-
First time I heard this song I actually liked it. Listening back on it now though, it’s more of the same. Tom raises the riff from his song on I Empire ‘Heaven’, and about a dozen other AVA songs. But as far as this album goes, the love 2 part, sadly this is one of the better ones on this second disc

 

SURRENDER-
I Swear I’ve heard this song 8 times in this live listen alone. Isn’t this hallucinations? Holy hell I still have 9 more songs to go. My god. If I don’t make it I’m leaving all my signed merch to @skurt

 

ANXIETY-
THIS IS THE EXACT SAME SONG I JUST HEARD. I am going to repeat myself and say didn’t I already hear this song? And I really hate when Tom does that “don’t pressure us” shit in the bridge. It’s grating. Listening to this song definitely does cause A-A-A-Anxiety

MY HEROINE(ITS NOT OVER)-
Oh wow! This song was actually good compared to the last few. I mean, it is the usual Tom love song. But this one unlike ones like Saturday Love is a bit more earnest in its message, and it doesn’t have a line like dancing on tree tips (I will never stop pointing out the silliness of that line). And I actually dig the last half of this song. Tom was actually trying on this song. It’s not fantastic but it’s listenable.

 

MOON AS MY WITNESS-

DRY YOUR EYES-

Wait an AvA song that isn’t gushing about love and space? And it’s actually a break up song? This one isn’t bad at all. It’s nothing special, but this is at least DIFFERENT. Kind of. Sadly if I remember right, this is the last halfway decent song on this massive clusterfuck of an album compilation. I’ll see if I’m wrong.

 

THE REVELATOR-
I already used the sleeping bit. But this song is boring as shit.

Tom I would literally PAY to have a big surprise pop up on this fucking album. What happened to the Timmy Of 2004 man?!

 

ONE LAST THING-
This one has some decent effects and guitar work that actually switches up toms normal formula. The lyrics are still terrible though and it’s not good, but at least it isn’t the same old same old

 

INERTIA-
Oh wait everything I said about ONE LAST THING was inertia. I guess eventually this shit starts to blend together

 

BEHOLD A PALE HORSE-

This song started out as a cool closer for a bit, but once Timmy started repeating althatweareallthatweareallthatweare I started getting annoyed. But the guitar at the end was pretty good. WHERE WAS THAT FOR THE LAST 20 SONGS TOM?!

 

I will take great care of it

 

Conclusion: outside of a handful of songs that was terrible.

If Tom had gutted these two albums and took some of the songs into one album it might have been OK. But as this massive dumpster fire it’s terrible only better than the solo album

 

I need to listen to the new Senses Fail to wash my brain of that bs
