Splatoon 2 worth it for chilled out late night gaming? Pick up and play without needing to care too much type of gaming?

 

single player is super chill, only the boss fights are a little involved.

multiplayer is also pretty chill for this type of a game and it has a super cool horde mode.

lovely game.

 

Yeah, it's sounding tempting. Basically I play an awful lot of games like Rocket League and Overwatch where if I have a spare half hour or hour, I can pick up, instantly play a few games, then go about doing something else or go to bed.

I'm considering Splatoon cause it seems exactly like that, but with the bonus of being able to do it in bed already lol.

Ah, see I did some maths. So, digital it is £49. However, I'm trading Odyssey in at Cex .They give £27 cash for it, so that makes Splatoon effectively £22.

Physical I found it for £41 I think, meaning with the trade in it would be £14 or so. Or Cex selling for £52 with £33 credit for Odyssey, meaning £19 for Splatoon.

Basically I've decided for the first time ever that the convenience of digital may be worth it over the few pound saving haha.

 

oh I buy everything digital, except games I trade with my brother (mario, zelda)

 

I've literally never done it. The price is just so much higher most of the time (thinking PS4 mostly). But with the Switch I'm going to make an effort, purely for the fact of portability and convenience.

 

I have a friend on each platform to share games with, so basically we only have to buy one copy, so it comes out to be $30 each, so for me digital has been a huge saving. unfortunately Switch doesn't have family sharing yet.

I also took a break from mafia to start Watch Dogs 2.

 

I've been playing way too much Hearthstone. Like, there's an Overwatch event and I'm sitting here playing without quests to complete. OW loot boxes have been super underwhelming lately, and I don't see them getting any better, so I might just use credits to unlock the event skin I want and call it a day. HS card packs as well have been underwhelming. I purchased the Mammoth Bundle and got almost nothing of value. I hate that these games are so addicting because it's been apparent for a very long time to me that the rewards for these massive time sinks just isn't worth it most of the time. I should probably put Blizzard aside and focus on my ridiculous backlog. I'm about 75% through Mirror's Edge Catalyst, but I haven't touched it in days.

 

tbh the New Years event is the worst one out of the bunch, and the fact that there is 2 slots in the arcade for it means there's 2 less better game modes to play unfortunately. A couple of the new skins are cool though but a couple are just meh so that's a good call to just buy them instead of grinding for them.

 

Kingdom Come Deliverance seems like such a wait for a sale game, and I'm 70 hours deep in Persona 5 and fuck knows when that's going to end, but it really sounds like a lot of fun right now. I'm going to hold off for a few days but I'll probably give in.

 

just amazing. how do we think this all came about? do we think Labo influenced giving the Joycon all those bells and whistles, or that some folks just had a grand idea while playing with the tech? either sounds too good to be true. they’ve really outdone themselves.

 

I definitely think labo has been in development for a while but I think they assumed showing it at the reveal event would’ve alienated a ton of people. Get the “hardcore” games out first then go full gimmick like only Nintendo can.

 

people who think this is for kids only are missing out. this thing looks like the most fun party trick. won’t get it day one unless there’s great incentive, but when summer comes around and im hosting more, i can’t wait to grab it

I lied. I was only one mission away from the final mission of Mirror's Edge Catalyst, so I was clearly quite a bit more than 75% through. Slightly underwhelming resolution to the story, which promised to be (and often was) much more poignant. Sometimes I felt like I spent more time staring at a loading screen from dying too much, but it was more often because I needed to get a jump just right rather than combat was too difficult. Other than that, I really enjoyed the game. Frustrating level of difficulty, sure, but when everything clicks, it is so satisfying. I might keep this installed just to roam the city from time to time, you know, without all the bullets flying at me. There's still a lot of side stuff I didn't get to.

 

Picked up again on Nier. I forgot where I last left off, and did a crazy two phase boss fight right away. I’m on my way to save Pascal village
