I honestly think writing off any single genre as being entirely or mostly bad is ignorant. I believe there is a difference between things we don't like and things that are legitimately bad. I've been guilty of calling entire genres bad in the past, only to realize there is a ton of great stuff and a ton of stuff I don't like in pretty much every genre, including ones I used to express my distaste toward. For that reason alone, I don't ever write off bands I don't currently enjoy (unless they're bad people) on the off chance that I will enjoy them in the future

Chevelle got really mad at the crowd at a radio fest a few years ago because the STL Blues won a crucial playoff game and were chanting BLUES the whole time. The singer took offense to this and acted like a shithead about it.

 

Writing off pop punk is as ignorant and stupid as saying all rap is bad.

Except for the fact that it is. Being biased doesn't make your wrong opinion right. I don't even listen to pop punk that much.

 

Not really. Rap is an extremely diverse genre, and the second you diversify yourself in the pop punk world it’s no longer pop punk

 

That is entirely personal opinion and it's wrong. All genres have diversity.

 

Although there are definitely a lot more talented, experimental, diverse artists in rap, to be fair.

 

Pop punk isn’t that diverse though and it never has been.

Brian Fallon is one of the worst songwriters I've ever had the misfortune of hearing. Everything he writes is incredibly cliche and his lyrics are some of the worst I've ever had the misfortune of hearing. If I were a fan, I'd be utterly embarrassed for enjoying the trash that he releases.

 

I own all of Gaslight’s records and listen to his solo stuff, no regrets.

 

I even stood outside a venue in East St. Louis for hours just to watch him play. Again, no regrets.

 

Fair enough. I just can't stand his stuff. Nothing against him or his fans. I can't relate to the stuff he writes. Maybe that's why I'm not a fan.

 

Saying all rap is the same is like saying all rock is the same, which includes punk and pop punk and whatevr. Pop punk a sub genre niche, not a large umbrella of styles and sounds.

And wow turns out its all bad, I proved it scientifically, case closed
