They were a gateway band into death metal for me. I got into them with Alaska and enjoyed the self-titled, TSC, and Colors a lot. After Colors, the Great Misdirect was kinda meh to me. There were some interesting songs on it (Obsfucation), but that was their foray into proggier, less cohesive, more spastic sounds (IMO). That also coincided with a big shift in tastes that occurred during my junior and senior years in the college that made me into the musical curmudgeon that I am today.

I went to the Colors 10-year anniversary tour last year which served as a nice eulogy for me on seeing them live...especially when they closed with Mordecai. Damn, I love that song. With that being said, I'll give anything they put out a passive listen at this point, but odds are it'll just get 1 to 3 listens and probably be deleted from my library/playlists.

I have to agree with some of the earlier posts and that they should just go full prog rock and be the next Dream Theater. All of their various side projects point in this direction with the exception of Glass Casket which hasn't been active in a long time.

There were some rumblings that Glass Casket was up to something a few years ago as there was some news articles about Wes Hauch (ex-The Faceless) joining the band...there hasn't been a peep about them since AFAIK. Which is shame, because Desperate Man's Diary was a banger when I was 18 and moving from deathcore into more traditional death metal.

Is this thread dead compared to the other metal thread?

Either way, it's probably more appropriate to post this here. New single from The Body off their upcoming album "I Have Fought Against It, But I Can't Any Longer" coming out May 11th:

This is frightening in the best possible way.

their Krieg collaboration has been the most bleak, darkest, scariest thing they've done, I think

Some Facebook events are being created for Electric Wizard shows in the US in April/May...dear Lucifier, please let there be a Chicago show.

@theagentcoma and I teamed up this past week and the first of his two recommendations is:

Chemicaust: Unleashed Upon This World (2018)

Chemicaust are a thrash metal band out of Dallas, Texas. Throughout the 8 songs, well 8 songs and a cover, they pound you with riffs and solos that their peers would be proud of. The best way to describe them is Slayer with 2000's era metallic hardcore vocals. The song Human Sacrifice even has a nice Reign in Blood breakdown thrown in.

The band is extremely talented I am going to keep an eye out for their future efforts and I am truly surprised they are not signed because the production on the album is amazing for a DIY project. The highlight of the album comes from the song Genocide. This is the only time they give you a short break from their pummeling riffs and vocals. It also has an INSANE solo around the 3 minute mark and has an impressive breakdown outro accompanied by another solo and is a great way to close out the album.

The Exodus cover of A Lesson in Violence following Genocide is done very well and is something I am sure they would be impressed by.

My only real criticism with the album is the vocals. There is little variety and this style of music doesn't necessarily require such razor sharp vocals. Although, surprisingly you can understand every word he is saying. It is minor criticism but his vocals can wear on you after a few listens with the album.

It is sad the album is not on Apple Music but I found it on Bandcamp and purchased the digital version of the album after my second listen.

This is a solid release and I look forward to hearing more from them!

Hell yeah, stoked for them. Relapse has been my favorite record label for years now and it's always good to see younger, burgeoning bands get picked up by them.

What amazes me is how prolific Full of Hell continues to be after 6-7 years of going at it at this point, especially over the last few years:

    Albums (including collabs):
2011 - Roots of Earth Are Consuming My Home
    2013 - Rudiments of Mutilation
2014 - Full of Hell/Merzbow (including Sister Fawn)
    2016 - Full of Hell/The Body I
    2017 - Full of Hell/The Body II
    2017 - Trumpeting Ecstasy

    EPs/Splits:
2011 - The Inevitable Fear of Existence
    2011 - Full of Hell/Goldust split
2012 - Full of Hell/The Guilt Of... split
2012 - Full of Hell/Code Orange Kids split
2012 - Full of Hell/Calm the Fire split
    2014 - Full of Hell/Psywarfare split
2015 - Amber Mote in the Black Vault
    2016 - Full of Hell/Nails

And that's not even including comps, live albums, or their noise tapes. It's hard to keep up with what they put out.

A new crust/death/hardcore band on one side from members of Ruiner, Putrisect, and Pulling Teeth. Swedish crust legends on the other side.

I go through phases with crust. I'm an absolute sucker for it some days and others I don't care for it at all. It's odd.

Really dig that Neolithic track. Need to listen to more Martyrdod too. I saw them open for Black Breath in 2012, and picked up one of their albums at the show, but never really went beyond that. They ruled live though.
