Yup. If 1930 doesn’t break you, you’re already doomed.

They have a LOT of killer choruses but few are as great to shout along with as that of I Coulda Been A Contender. The opener and We Came To Dance are among their best songs too.

I would be ok if the only Crowes songs he played at shows I go to were "Behold the Hurricane", "Ladykiller", and "Crush." Maybe "Mary Ann."

  4. This Elsie slander i will not stand for

It's basically a perfect record, and contains Fallon's favorite song he's ever written ('I Believe Jesus Brought Us Together'). The slander hurts my soul, that's for sure.

Sugar, Ladykiller, Crush and Blood Loss are among his absolute best. The rest is merely great.

Go Tell Everybody is definitely one of my favorites of his.

This is what I love from Elsie. I sing the chorus line all the time.

Blood Loss is easily a top all time song. I will die on the Elsie hill.

the worst song on Elsie is still probably top tier Fallon. It might be his best album out of all projects tbh.

it's even more impressive that we got Elsie in Sept 2011, and not even a year later got Handwritten in July 2012. He put out what I think I consider his top 2 albums within a year of eachother. Nobody does that.

Wrecked 'em? Damn near killed 'em!

I stand by what I said about both Sugar (could be shorter, otherwise a great song) and Mary Ann (just never been a fan). Otherwise, Elsie's a perfect album.

I dunno, Bruce put out Greetings... and The Wild, The Innocent... within 8 months of each other. Maybe not his "best" albums, but definitely 2 strong statements that he wasn't fucking around haha

Sugar is my favorite song on Elsie. I've listened to it so much more than the rest of the album. It's a special song for me and my wife though, and it's one of the songs I played for her that got her into Brian Fallon / Gaslight, and now she's a huge fan. So it's got a special place for me. Other highlights for me are Ladykiller and Blood Loss, but honestly the entire thing is amazing. I did not know that Brian considers I Believe Jesus Brought Us Together to be his favorite song he's ever written. That is a song I was not crazy about when Elsie first came out but have grown to appreciate a lot more over time.

I take that a step further and add the fact that he released American Slang in June of 2010, Elsie in September of 2011 and then Handwritten in July of 2012.

I really only dislike I Witnessed A Crime and Mary Ann from that album.

I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite Brian Fallon album but I certainly wouldn’t use “meh” to describe it.

There are beautiful tracks on there.
The fact it is sandwiched between American Slang and Handwritten in such a short amount of time makes all three, but Elsie in particular, even more impressive.
