My daughter still takes baths. Last time I did was years ago because my ex bought some of that powdered bath stuff

 

bath salts? You know that's not for bathing, right?

 

I try not to take baths because once I almost drowned in the tub practicing for a snorkeling trip when I was 16.

That's amazing! When you rescued him did he know any commands or had any indication that he was kennel and potty trained? How does he do with socialization with other dogs? Bear loves people, but is a little skiddish right now around their dogs if they're walking them. The one bad thing about her is that everyone who walks by wants to pet her, which is good for her socializing, but then i have to answer the same questions over and over again like “what’s her name?” “What breed is she?” “How old is she?” “When did you get her?” Blah blah blah. It gets old real quick.

Bear is good! She is sweet but a little grouchy and not afraid to tell me haha. She is 8 weeks old, so for the next two weeks I'm working on basic potty and kennel training and training her to learn her name. She's got her first vet appointment for this saturday to get her 2nd round of boosters and i'll talk to the vet about the timeline on getting her fixed, rabbies, etc. In a couple weeks we'll be starting puppy training at PetSmart for 6 weeks.

He knew 0 commands and he wasn't potty trained. He was 5 months and 3 days old when we got him. Apparently he was from the south (the south has a big problem with stray dogs and people not taking care of them) and then brought to a kennel in Virginia where he was vaccinated and neutered and then the place near me rescued him. When we first met him, he was in a pet store with several other dogs and they got along just fine. However, since then, if we're on a walk, he starts barking and pulling as much as he can. He met the neighbor's dog and they got along just fine. It's a mixed bag. He seems to bark more at smaller dogs than bigger ones. I know how you feel about answering questions. One Saturday, we must have been stopped about 5 times in 15 minutes.

Are you doing strictly positive reinforcement for her training? We were doing a mix of a bunch of things and getting mixed results. Then we hired a trainer and after one session, Sterling started making massive improvements. He's like a different dog. There's still things to work on, but he's learning so fast, it's really quite incredible. Trying to teach him to walk properly has been really difficult, but he's starting to improve. If I can make any suggestions for training her, I'd be happy to! She seems like such a sweetheart, I'm sure she'll be a great pup when she's older.
