You don't understand. I have absolutely no room in my life for a new person / significant other. I have created a perfectly capable, revitalizing harmonious life for myself.

I have a wonderful career, my health and my hobbies, a terrific family, and a carefully crafted social group that allows me not to be bothered on a regular basis like most friendships are built. I literally could not add in a new person / dynamic to my life without making a cut to the current roster and / or eliminating some "me" time and those things just are not happening.

New significant other relationships used to be fun but burned me out by my mid-20's. Too much work and hassle. And I know the warning signs (like my recent posts in this thread have shown) which make it easy to avoid and keep my perfect nucleus intact.

 

I’m sorry but I need to share this. she works 7:30 am to 7:30 pm a lot, and yesterday and today i woke up to cute good morning texts, and both days I’ve gotten a nice greeting and a how was your day at exactly 7:31. we’ve been up to 1 or 2 every texting until she falls asleep. tomorrow she is throwing a bake sale 100% of her own volition to raise money for parents who lost their children prior to term. she gets their footprints and handprints from people in the ward and makes butterflies out of them to commemorate them. this is the caliber of human being i am dealing with. waiting around without any guarantee is going to kill me and i truly hope i have it in me.

I used to ride the Amtrak home in college and would fantasize about some attractive charming person sitting next to me and we'd chat and have banter and stuff on the train but all that ever happened was an annoying old man talking to me even tho I had a book and headphones on. I feel like I romanticize situations so I obv am like a ~romantic person to some extent even tho I don't rly call myself one, but if a situation did arise I'd probably cringe and want to die instead of doing anything.

I am always thinking about how one little decision or choice can change the whole trajectory of your life and I think it's why I'm such an indecisive person lol. Like I imagine there's multiple life paths and a decision can unknowingly close the door on other paths forever and your whole life could've been different and that really stresses me out.

I was very upfront with this girl 6 months ago. And she did not take it well. We didnt talk for a while. But I had just broke up with the ex so I was feeling super cautious and guarded. I can see myself having fun with this girl but she does not seem like bring home to mom material at alllll
