  1. I'm rarely frustrated by Siri - she does every thing I need her to do

I agree - Siri combined with Homekit is probably the easiest way to control your smart home. That's my main use. There is just times where it falls flat on its face. Like two nights ago I tried "navigate to Mission Barbecue" - now there is a place called Mission BBQ 5 minutes away (FL) - instead maps starts showing me barbecue places in Mission, TX.

The main positive I hear about Siri is how good she is with HomeKit, and while that's cool, smart home stuff is still a niche area. She sucks at a lot of other stuff the majority has a need for on a daily basis.

There is no contextual awareness with Siri. I just did the "Mission Barbecue" test with Google Assistant on my iPhone and I watched it transcribe to Mission BBQ and immediately offer directions to the location 6 minutes from my house. Meanwhile I ask the same to Siri and she asks which barbecue place I want in Texas. Because clearly, when I am sitting in my house in FL at lunchtime I am looking for barbecue places in Texas.

That's just one example, but that is enough for some people to declare Siri useless and never try it again.

It's addicting. Get one hue light and you want all of your lights to be hue lights. Smart thermostat is a must as well.

  7. The only thing I need Siri for is calling people telling me the weather turning on or off my lights and playing music and she rarely fails

Local Best Buy had the HomePod on display and it looks and sounds awesome. Asked it to play the new Brian Fallon album.

Despite Siri’s shortcomings I still think HomePod is perfect for me

Well then no wonder it works great for you. Those are four of the most very basic tasks.

Seriously loving the sound of HomePod... have it in my living room and the sound is just perfect throughout most of my home. At it loudest it is still perfect sounding and not something that hurts my ears trying too hard. I was planning on taking it with me tomorrow to KY where I have school for the next six weeks but my wife and 5 year old like it too much for me to give it up.

Also, the UPS truck arrived, AND BACKED INTO MY DRIVEWAY, right as my wife was coming home. She was unaware of my order for this so that was a fun night trying to convince her it was a good purchase lol...

It’s really quite heavy so not something you can tote around if that’s what you’re thinking by portable.

Only problem I’ve run into so far is I keep randomly triggering Siri somehow by voice - earlier today I was talking to someone about dachshunds and she started playing music by Michael Jackson

Liking mine a lot so far. I don't know how much I'll use it for its intended purpose after the honeymoon phase since I listen to music at my desk with headphones 98% of the time.

However, for the price I got it for, I at least got a really fancy alarm clock.

I like my new macbook pro more than i usually like new computers. but apples unending war on removing useful things, this time usb ports, is really fucking annoying. i need like 40 adapters to do anything. i get that most of apple's user base dont use apple products for 'work' but i do.

I know I'm late to the party on this, but I just grabbed an iPhone X the other day. I had no desire to get one, but I had a bunch of stuff from my ex on my old 6s and just didn't want to go through the ordeal of deleting all of it, so.....just bought a new phone. Valid? Super emo? Both?

Anyway, I love the feel of the thing naked, but I know I'm going to drop this thing at the gym. I know there was some talk on here in November about thin, minimalist cases. What did everyone end up going with? I've been looking at Caudabe stuff, but wanted any recommendations anyone had to give.

I’m an absolute pro at breaking iPhones. It’s my number one hobby. This stupid phone (that i love) was 1k so I put the damn thing in an otter box case. It’s ugly as fuck now but I’ve dropped it like a half dozen times and my phone hasn’t exploded so it’s worth it.

Peel is my go to for thin and minimalist cases. I also have the Spigen Thin Fit that offers a little bit more protection but still fairly thin.
