I just got it on the podcast app on my ipod, but the podcast is called Get Up On This and it is episode 163, looks like it was recorded Nov 3, 2014, so a couple months before the 2nd breakup

At the end you can hear all of Brohemian Rhapsody. This could mean 2 things:

If THAT is a joke song, the "real" songs have to be fucking spectacular. OR...

They wasted a really cool idea on a song that actually is more gross and weird than funny. (IMO).

 

Man, that really should have been a full (better) song. Instrumentally, that shit rules. Hoping this means that the album will have songs just as good (hopefully even better) than this on it.

 

PS: I like to imagine them in studio with Feldmann, and John turns to Travis who just did an amazing drum take, and he says, "Man, there's something about you I can't quite put my finger in... I mean ON! ON!" and they all laughed their asses off for a couple minutes, and then turned that into a song based on that funny moment. Yeah. That's what I like to think happened. I'll go with that.

Travis's drumming is nuts on brohemian, love it.

On a musical note: listened to Man Overboard today since a long time, and damn is that song still good.

 

Initially, my only concern about Blink's choice to use Feldmann was whether the band could play his studio recordings in a live setting. Feldmann is well-know for his slick and near-perfect production values. So, it was painful, but not surprising, to hear Mark struggle through "Bored to Death."

This is not the first time that a Feldmann project hasn't translated live. Still, I'm not going to write the partnership off until I hear the record. But, I'm a little irked as are many others.

This is what makes the Tom drama so frustrating over the years. He wasted many of Mark's prime years, especially in terms of his vocals.

 

Since April, blink has been my top artist scrobbled, up around 400 listens including today (this doesn't include youtube or itune listens which is approximately another 60 or so)

I am not going to blame Tom for Mark only putting two albums and an EP out since Untitled. Mark made his personal and career decisions along the way. That's not fair to put all of that on Tom. If Mark wanted to make music in that span he very well could have.

 

Agreed. While I will put it on Tom for not letting more blink happen in that span, Mark had his opportunities. I feel like he did produce a bit with +44 but he couldn't further his commitment to blink 182 without tom being on board.

 

Yeah, if we want to focus on Blink, than, yes, Tom railroaded that process and was the bottleneck post reunion. I just don't believe creating non-Blink material was a priority for Mark. He did some producing, jingle writing, and a TV show that were all probably fun projects. He also had a kid a decided to live in the UK for a bit. Nothing wrong with any of it at all. It just comes down to priorities and interests.

 

What do Mark's vocals have to do with Feldmann? Mark has had good nights and bad nights vocally for years. It's not like Feldmann had him singing crazy out of his range. From what I've seen in not-so-great quality vids I thought everything else about the song sounded damn good.

 

I feel sorry for you people who can't enjoy first date anymore, live or recorded. Still love that song either way

 

Ehrm, Blink wrote on twitter to tune in to Beats1. I have no idea what's up.

 

If it's just an interview or something i'll be so mad. The time is 1:16 here and i have two exams tomorrow... but now i HAVE to stay up to see what's going on.

 

I've been listening since that tweet went up and there's been no mention of anything blink related. It would have been nice if they included a time or something.
