    The rivalry is back on

I’ve never gotten the feeling from the Colts beat writers that the team is overly concerned with his long-term status, as far as ever playing again is concerned.

Then again, I didn’t get the feeling from the Colts beat writers that Josh McDaniels flipping was a legitimate possibility so w/e

I really hope Bill has more than 1 season left, but I am happy if McDaniels is HC in waiting. Especially happy that there will now be consistency on the good side of the ball going into the season.

That consistency will die with Tom Brady.

    Re: McDaniels

As much as I should be laughing at the Colts, that’s such a dirtball move by McDaniels / NE that I’m actually mad about it. I hate the Patriots more than I hate the Colts.

Indy has a dumpster fire front office, and they’re idiots for not having him sign the contract before making other moves. But multiple unrelated people’s careers are relying on this, they don’t deserve that kind of unprofessionalism. Even though IND should have got out the fountain pen, McD is still trash for backing out just because they didn’t.

Re: Luck - yeah he’s very good and the league is better with him. It would be a tragedy if his career ended early due to Indy’s negligence toward developing an OL.

The reason I never fully feared Luck as a QB is because he is always doing crazy shit. No matter how talented he is, if I’m an OC I’m ripping my hair out at the ridiculous things he tries to do in close games. He never takes the easy answer, it’s always a path of high resistance and he’s always putting his body at risk as well. While I am jealous and wish we had a QB with that talent, I don’t worry about us being able to beat Indy like I did when they had Manning.

He could be scary good if he knew when to quit playing roulette. But his style of play so far doesn’t avoid sacks / picks haha, he had a year where he shocked everybody with his daring fourth quarter comebacks, but then fell back to earth.

I think he’s a lot like Elway actually. Has the willpower. Has the accuracy. Suddenly becomes a ballerina when there’s pressure in the pocket. Will win any game from any deficit if you ease up or get sloppy. But... he’s also def still putting up bad numbers against defenses like Jacksonville’s current squad, just becuase he’s too stubborn and cocky to tone his game down ;). Maybe one day he’ll be 36 and Indy will finally have a line, rushing attack, and defense, and he will calm his shit down and finally win a SB like Elway did.

Really hope Luck can get healthy because he makes games fun to watch.

Some are really taking Luck's side, but the story is that he didn't want to go to Dr. James Andrews and insisted on a Stanford doctor for his surgery. That treatment there didn't fully help, so he ended up going to Drew Brees' trainer, Kevin Wilk, who happens to work directly with Andrews. Now, he went to the Netherlands to get treatment on it for six weeks. This usually takes seven months to heal and, at almost a year past his surgery, he still has pain in his shoulder and can't throw.

It's not good news, but he refused to take the team's suggestions on treatment. I just wouldn't really fault the team completely with his inability to get back out there.

its crazy, i would think that as a team with the kind of investment they have in someone (especially luck), they would force him to go the route they want to repair the shoulder.

Sure, but I meant 2018-19 where 24 hours ago it looked like almost complete turnover beyond Bill and the roster.

It really is stupid that the Colts had to wait until the Super Bowl to sign the contract. That rule needs to change. Now they're stuck getting the last of the coaching scraps.

    Nope. Supporter

Pretty sure they weren't allowed to sign him to a contract until after the SB, no?

They aren’t but they could’ve held off on signing McDaniels’s staff choices to other positions so that whatever HC DOES come in can still choose their staff

I wasn’t scared of the potential hire but I also don’t think they have any options that are as good as McD either

I do think they can find a hire better than McDaniels as far as the all-encompassing role of head coach goes. Better playbook? Probably not. But I think they can find a better actual head coach.
