  2. You're missing the point. He's not supporting the corrupt. Get your shitty ass liberal attitude out of here and hit the politics thread with it.

He’s literally supporting the corrupt. That’s literally what’s happening. What do you think we mean when we talk about systematic and institutionalized racism and corruption?

Police have killed 1,147 people in the U.S. in 2017.

There are huge racial disparities in how US police use force

    Mass Incarceration

Note how this isn't an issue of "a few bad apples" or a case of there being both "good cops" and "bad cops". The institution of police and the prison system leads to the mass and disproportionate murder of non-white people in the United States. The CPD are among the most offensive perpetrators of state sanctioned violence and murder, and actively and systemically covered it up and protected those "bad cops". Police as a whole reinforce and prop up the corruption, violence, and abuse, even if not every individual cop shoots an unarmed civilian.

I don't want to argue with you. I hope you read some of the links I provided.

Yep, that is a shit take and judging from his response it's very clear he lacks a fundamental understanding that underlying institutional issues with police force =/= "EVERY COP IS BAD". It's like the political equivalent of "separate the art from the artist." Do I hate him for it though? No. Unfortunately I've come to accept that if I'm going to consume entertainment made by men and white ppl I'm going to have to get used to some of them having some real shit takes or else I wouldn't be able to enjoy anything ever. So in the end, disappointed but not surprised. ~

I am both disappointed and surprised actually, definitely expected Skiba to have a more nuanced view on that issue

Welp. This thread is fucked. @BTDandFeelingThis , you should start a new Blink thread and just let this one wither away.

Might be time to do away with blink all together until skiba either apologizes/donates/dons some blm gear or leaves the band.

Has Travis said anything about it?

Matt commented about this on the Instagram post -- he said the song is about a specific COP and not COPS. :cringe:

Pretty much the same here. 2001-2005 for me. Right after TOYPAJ came out.

My high school had around 3500 students and I saw way more Blink, Weezer, Sum 41 and 311 shirts while in school. Then American Idiot came out and people were alllllll about that.

I also remember a lot of my friends not really liking Self-Titled when it came too. Interesting to think about.

It's an insult to black americans, there's no debate there. Luckily blink has few fans of color, skibas post kind of solidifies that they make music for white people.
