By the laws of the game, Kane didn't interfere with Lovren. It's pretty black and white. You can't change the rules to cover "perceived threats" or whatever, imagine trying to officiate that.

Being offside is not an offense, Kane didn't interfere with play (according to the rules), Lovren misshit a clearance putting Kane back onside, Kane dived to get a penalty via looking for contact from the keeper. Penalty was wrong given (imo), the onside decision was correct.

Agree to disagree if you want, but I've literally pasted parts out of the rule book to back my opinion. Got nothing else to add.

 

You've never seen an offsides whistled on someone indirectly involved in a play? Like a free kick where a guy gets behind too soon and causes a defender/keeper to account for them despite not ultimately playing it?

I haven't actually watched a whole game in weeks I hate it that much. I do not understand how a) Conte had these exact players playing sublime less than 12 months ago, and b) If Matic was the glue that held the team together (as it seems like he was?), how in the fuck was his transfer, to a direct rival no less, ever given the green light?

It is exasperating - this must be what being a Liverpool fan is like!!! C'mon!

 

The Matic transfer makes less and less sense each passing day. Literally plugged the biggest hole in a direct rivals squad, whilst severely harming themselves, for a relative bargain. Been one of our best players this season, possibly one of the bigger reasons as to why we're second.
