It was really good. It was a lot of fun and sounded great.

 

I feel like tex-mex, at least what I've had, has always just been pretty good at best. The authentic Mexican food I've had, I've enjoyed much, much more. I find it to be a lot more vibrant and interesting.

Whered you get the mexican food at?

 

Sadly, I've never been to Mexico. I've just had some really good food close to the border, that I find to be authentic based on what I've read about the different regions of Mexican cuisine. I mean, there's so many different styles of cuisine in Mexico, it's almost disingenuous to put them all under one umbrella.

 

As a white guy I'm an expert on Mexican food

 

I have been to Mexico City and Monterey

 

I had a burrito last week described on the menu as, "lightly beer-battered fish with rice, beans, tangy baja sauce, and crunchy fresh cabbage" and it was seriously incredible. I added some of their salsa which was genuinely spicy and it took it to the nxt lvl. Haven't had a burrito blow my mind like that in awhile. I've noticed that since coming to SoCal, a lot of the Mexican food here has more seafood infused options and it's amazing

 

I've been to the Albuquerque. Haven't been out of the country

 

But I am currently at Subway. So, you know, it's all bad.

 

I've never been to Mexico, but I've had what I would consider to be authentic Mexican food in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California, Philadelphia has some good spots, and one of my good friends is Mexican and her cooking is fantastic.

I don't claim to be an expert on Mexican food, but I've had plenty of tex-mex and I'm never that wild about it.

 

I've always stayed in the resorts in Mexico because my family is hella bourgie

I guess even as a native Texan idk the difference between Mexican family owned little Tex Mex joints to Mexican family owned little Mexican joints. We have them both here and the Mexican influence is integral to the state and those families have lived here for hundreds of years at this point. Weve also got Mexico City style tacquerias here for days. They stack up against some Mexico City tacos that Ive had.

There's also this joint off the service road on 27 by the capital. Its good, cheap, and was very obviously an Applebees at one point.

 

I haven't been there in forever. Always get a SMASH or two every time I go though.
