Just finished up Dear, Esther and I can say that it is one of my favorite games. I have not really played any other walking simulators(Gone Home being the first) and this is such an amazing introduction to the genre. It amazes me that developers, The Chinese Room, consists of only 3 people. Jessica Curry is amazing composer and I need to look into her other work. I can't wait to check out their two other games and can't recommend this game enough. Play it with the commentary on in your second play through and it will make it so much more enriching. The cave section is one of the most breathtaking parts of a game I have ever seen.

Fun fact: Dear, Esther is the first walking simulator and was developed from a Half Life 2 mod.

Actually it's a bit more complicated. The discourse around Dear, Ester is where the term "walking simulator" originated according to most, but there have been games before it that are, well, "walking simulators", the term just wasn't a thing yet. Yume Nikki is a good example. It's like how people used to call first person shooters "Doom-likes" before the term "first person shooter" became a real thing - doesn't mean they weren't first person shooters.

Dear, Esther is cool by the way.

That loneliness is not a function of solitude.

Nier: Automata is great but its save system is infuriating sometimes. I think I'm near the "actual" end wtf is gonna happeeeeeeeeeen.

Really? I found it pretty easy to save in Automata. Original NieR nearly made me throw my 360 into a ravine with its saveability though.

Reminds me of Alien Isolation where somehow people lost huge amounts progress from not figuring out how to properly save.

Only annoying thing about saving in Nier automata was the long wait at the start of the game to be able to save

So with the combination of my $3,000 tax refund and the $750 I got for my extra Hamilton ticket, I no longer have a reason to keep putting off a Switch purchase. Aside from the system, BotW and Odyssey, what else should I get, games or accessories-wise?

He should honestly only be known as "xXx: Return of Xander Cage actor Donnie Yen."

  13. Looking at the cast list for Mirror's Edge Catalyst it seems like, for the most part, the voice actors all match their characters' race. I guess I just don't pay as much attention to this aspect of video games, but I was relieved this wasn't another Kubo/Bojack.

SotC is already out here, but I'm holding off playing because the TV at my new place sucks!!!!

My SO bought her copy though. It's going to be her first time playing it. Stoked for her.

If against all odds this movie is a hit, it could spark the creation of a sequel to the game though

Giving Blood, Sweat, and Pixels a read. I'm sure a lot of the stories in here are more or less known but it's super interesting so far. First chapter is on Pillars of Eternity and the start of Kickstarter funding for games.

Yeah at first I was mad when they wouldn’t work on multiplayer for the original, but making this from the ground up for multiplayer will hopefully prove to be a better choice.
