Damn, yea, guess we shouldn’t expect a gaslight album anytime soon. I wasn’t really anyway, but that kinda seals it haha.

Aaaand if Brian’s solo stuff continues to be as good as it has been, I don’t really mind.

 

Yeah if I put all of Fallon's work together, 'Elsie' and 'Painkillers' is at the top (and 'Sleepwalkers' seems like it might be right there too). Which isn't a knock on Gaslight - they're one of my Mount Rushmore bands. But I just love Fallon's side/solo work so freaking much.

 

For a while I questioned @Jason Tate and his view on a new Gaslight record, but according that interview, he’s pretty spot on.

 

I can't lie, I didn't really think it was going to *that* long before Gaslight did another album, and I secretly hoped this anniverasary tour run would kind of ignite something in the 4 (+ Ian) of them.

In that interview he seems to talk about Gaslight the way someone would talk about a romantic relationship that ended with both parties agreeing to part ways and not in like a huge blowout fight or someone cheating on the other. But definitely as a thing of that past that, however beautiful it may have been, is over for now.

"Come Wander With Me" bridge is unreal.

 

Oh, so "Etta James" is the best song of all time, cool.

 

I know I am excited buuuuuut holy shit, this is really good. These songs are incredible.

 

The bridge fucked me right up

 

Such an incredible vocal performance. From the beaten-down whisper (almost a whimper) in the verses to the howl of the chorus and then the bridge is just an explosion...god that song is a heavy hitter.

 

"And ya got Elsie singing 'how does it feel?'"

 

It's weird to me that he references Angel station since I live 5 minutes away from it

 

I couldn’t imagine a better day for an album to leak (for Brian’s sake) than hours before the Super Bowl haha

this is really, really spectacular. as much as i loved Painkillers i enjoy this one even more.

 

The horns in the title track give me life

 

shocked Fallon hasnt put horns, especially sax, in more songs.

i love the organs all over the album though, give it that vintage jazzy r&b vibe

 

I hadn't heard any of the tracks yet. I'm in the first chorus of the first track, and I'm already grinning and bopping in my chair.
Good shit. Real good shit.

 

Yeah, I'll be traveling all weekend so I'm going to have to indulge now.

 

This man has given us 7 incredible albums damn

I obviously need to spend a lot more time with this, but this is spectacular. After the first few listens I think this is way up there with his best work.

I feel like Neptune - both in it's sound and in what he's saying - is reflecting back on Gaslight.

I love that it seems like he stopped trying to purposely avoid singing about the things he loves to sing about. Ferris wheels, Elsie, going down believing.

 

Sounds good to me so far.

 

“Etta James” and “Sleepwalkers” are God-tier Fallon.
