Speaking of them, I actually eased up on the guy when the Pure Noise shit came out and he made a pretty decent statement about how his dad was being an idiot

 

I met this person with the last name pagano last night that’s been friends of my friends for years and I’ve seen him on Facebook a lot and I always thought he was a pagano cousin or something

Could not give a shit less what a band's name is, with very very few exceptions. Do they make good music?

 

Names are an extension of a band's art, how art is presented is very much a part of the art itself. If a band has a dumb bad name, or worse an ill-fitting name, the rest of the work suffers. And that's not even getting into the marketing side of things.

 

I couldn’t care less what a band is called.

 

I don't have steadfast rules about names, if I did I probably wouldn't listen to Chvrches or Alvvays, is a V a U or a W, but they definitely matter

 

100% if your band name is horrible, i just will never listen. but if the band is great and the name is meh, who cares. and if the name is great, but the music sucks, yeah miss me

 

I will never listen to Diarrhea Planet for that reason

 

I think about the fact that they had to have t-shirts that say Diarrhea Planet on it sometimes and it blows my mind

I stand by my original point tho, the band name, album name, every song title, are all extensions of the art. There are no bad names, a name like Shit Bucket Gushers could be good names for the right band in the right context. A painting of a beautiful landscape in an impressionist style wouldn't be called Shit Bucket Gushers, that'd be a bad name. But an interactive modern art piece could have that name if it had certain aspects. All the aspects are connected, and just saying the name doesn't matter is ignoring part of the final piece of art.

 

Yeah but the art ≠ the music, conflating them is a fallacy.
