this isn't bad. it sounds great. but it's also not very good...and like 6 songs too long.

Just starting my first listening. I'm gonna remain cautiously optimistic, but I really enjoyed Midnight Summers Jam.

Damn I'm loving Higher Higher too. I know I'm only 5 tracks in but so far the vibe is totally different from Filthy & Supplies....wonder why they would release those first.

Huh. I don't know what I think of this after one listen... I still hate Supplies. I f---ing love Montana though. Absolutely love it. This is definitely different than I was expecting, but honestly I have no idea what I was expecting anyway. Montana is my jam.

I am 1,000,000% on board for JT to actually make an Americana / country / whatever you wanna call it album.

Filthy and Supplies definitely stand out in a weird way on this, they don't really fit.

I started off not sure about this, the further I get in the more I might be on board... but still just not quite sure with most of it. Multiple listens really are going to be the deciding factor on this one

Do we think it's a sample and/or interpolation, or did Toby Keith actually come into the studio and write for this album? haha

    My first listen to Wave:

"Oh, this track has like an island/tropical vibe! I wonder what the lyrics will be like?"

JT: "Let's go to an island..."

    "God fucking damn it"

This is going to be one of those albums where I have no problem consistently skipping certain songs. Lots of good stuff on here but also a ton thats pretty dull

    I meannnnnn this isn't good.

EDIT: Like, "maybe won't ever listen to this again" bad. He forgot to write hooks (or lyrics for that matter).

After a few listens, Sauce, Higher Higher, & Montana are standouts. Those three are great. Filthy and Say Something have also grown on me a lot. There's a handful of tracks I'll probably always skip and then another handful which are fine, but not entirely memorable. I still enjoy this overall, but it could stand to be 5-6 tracks shorter.

  19. Some great songs, some skippers, but the idea there's no hooks on here is 'wtf face' inducing.

    indeed.

  21. Yeah, my first listen was pretty split, but at the very least I feel like none of this is half-assed, and the commitment to style is admirable. "Montana" and "Breeze Off the Pond" stood out to me. "Young Man" gave me "Only One" vibes.

  22. I need less albums that are over an hour long

just started my first listen - like most JT albums it is super catchy with some questionable moments and mostly bad lyrics

This and Fall Out Boy are the first two albums I've purchased in almost two years. Both are SO catchy
