also nobody talked about the asuka shit last year (at least that I heard). It was 1) the 4 horsewomen (wwe vs mma) or 2) ronda v steph or 3) ronda v charlotte. mostly because thats what meltzer was speculating back in september

But like, do you really think they’re capping it off? Or will there be another incident at the next NJPW event?

This whole thing is leading to Long Beach (which sold out immediately). I'm not sure what kind of build is going to take place. Definitely going to be a lot of BTE stuff. I don't know what NJPW is going on in February or March, but Sakura Genesis is going to be the big show to really set up the Cali show.

By all means, pick and choose the thing you know I wasn't talking about to try to prove your point. People have been making the Lesnar comparison from the second she was rumored to be interested in joining WWE. And rightfully so. Again, WWE has no track record to make fans believe that they can come up with anything else for her in creative terms.

 

Well they are/were both MMA fighters so comparisons like that were obviously gonna be made.

 

That has nothing to do with how they're booked. People were making that comparison that she was going to be a part-timer coming in and destroying people in short matches and that's it. Now hopefully at least the part-timer thing won't be correct if she truly ends up being full time, but that has yet to be seen.

 

Looking back on the RR, I’m disappointed that it was so predictable. Literally both the easy favorites won each RR match and every other match lacked any surprise.

The RR matches were good overall at least.

 

I mean, there's a difference between being booked like Lesnar (wrestling shorter, more physical matches) and being booked like him (to destroy everyone). There just isn't enough of a roster to do the latter imo.

 

Right, but that's what I'm talking about. People have been expressing concern that they were going to hurt the women's division if she ends up being booked the same. This is long before the last few months when it looked like her signing was imminent. Hell, people were talking about it back when she made that Mania appearance and people were only speculating that she'd maybe get into wrestling someday.

You're acting like everyone who has said anything negative about her is just making stuff up out of whole cloth. Yes, of course we don't KNOW what they're going to do with her, but anyone who is making these assumptions is doing it based on a consistent track record of WWE and their booking decisions.

 

Im actually rooting for Lesnar booking in her built to WM. She shows up every few weeks, we get some promo, and her first ring action comes on April 8. She does nothing for me, so the more time to dedicate towards rebuilding the CWs and other parts of RAW, the better.

Im also betting she'll decide on which show she is on on the RAW or SD after WM.

Mojo did one that was really good on his own. They liked it so much that they made them into productions.

 

The big difference will be how she is in ring. Because Lesnar sucks.

He's a true one trick pony. And the way he's booked/signed means that his predictable in ring performances become even more so.

Now that's not true. I like the Miz for starters.

 

Here's the thing: Brock is able to just walk in and be the Brock we know in WWE because he's a fucking monstrous freak of nature. Doesn't matter how many times he lost in UFC. Ronda standing in the middle of the ring and Charlotte was fucking dwarfing her. If this was four years ago and Ronda is at the very top of UFC and decided to come to WWE with a blemish-free record and that aura still around her, then sure, go the female-Brock route. But now it's not believable. That's not to say she can't be dominate and be successful and win high-profile feuds. It's just that it makes zero sense for them to try to make her into female-Brock.

I actually think they could do something compelling where she comes in hot with some big feud against Stephanie, but then has to actually build herself back up within the WWE. Show us that journey of her working her way back to the top. WWE creative should not act like her reputation wasn't damaged by those last two fights and the aftermath of them in WWE because then everything feels like a false narrative. Lean into the reality of the situation and tell a great story where she is built-back up into this stone cold killer

 

an important point: i highly doubt Ronda wants to run rough shod over every woman in the company, either. she is the only woman in the company that WWE needs more than she needs them, i have no doubt she will have a little pull in how she is booked/handled
