I like it a lot when I think of it as B-sides instead of a sequel. Otherwise it’s okay, one of those things where it definitely only has purpose thanks to how good the first was, similarly to The Naked Gun.

The joke I've written that I'm most proud of is a work in progress at the moment. In my show I'm writing about our miscarriage, there's a part (which is entirely true) where Laura and I are in the doctor's office about to go through our options for the procedure. In a normal doctor's office there are posters on the wall, but in this doctor's office there's literally just a post-it note on the wall that says "Poster Here". The whole joke is about the operation just being her using a post it note to say "Baby Here". I don't wanna share the whole joke because execution is key in a storytelling setting (god could I possibly rip off Birbiglia's schtick more?!) but turning this tragedy into something funny is something that I'm extremely proud of.

For the joke I wish I had written, I'm gonna give two answers: one classic and one recent. The classic one is Steven Wright's "I lost a button hole" joke. It's one of those jokes that needs context despite not having any, lives and dies by delivery, and somehow sounds perfect coming out of his mouth. The biggest challenge comedians face these days is making an untouchable joke and Steven Wright did so well with it.

The recent joke is a joke Laura made early this month/late last month. We were watching Auburn vs UCF on TV. (UCF won and it's important to state that because they're a great team and I'm tired of Auburn fans not giving them credit.) In college football they use giant posters to call plays that have random pictures on them to create the playcall. One of the play cards had a picture of Cam Newton on it from his time in Auburn, so I made an off hand comment saying "Okay so this play somehow involves Cam Newton." With NO hesitation, Laura quips back "Obviously it must be some kind of ROUTE." I laughed harder than I've ever laughed at that moment and still laugh any time I think about it.
