Me waiting for Brand New news:

 

I gotta think the next thing from Procrastinate will be Brand New. Maybe it will be KD LP9... Either way I'll be extremely happy whatever comes next from them!

 

That Shone album was quite possibly the biggest disappointment in terms of anticipation.

 

Super stoked for that Kevin Devine record. Loved Bulldozer and Bubblegum.

 

Things like this are why the question "is this something anyone needs?" exists.

 

Someone on the subreddit legitimately theorized that they're sneaking the new Brand New album into the Shone pressing.

It didn't read like a joke.

The etching on the edge is actually the new album in binary.

 

Maybe the Brand New record is just "Baby Shakes" 12 times.

No most people on here were joking about the procrastinate IG post. I don't think most of us seriously thought it meant anything.

 

I don't even know if that would even push me to buy the Shone vinyl. I think I hate Shone more than I love Brand New.

 

I haven't heard them but what's so bad about Shone?

 

The music is terrible. I mean... just give it a listen.

 

They're not as bad as people say, they even have a song about milkshakes.

They are so as bad as people say. Worse, even.

 

I don't think that on paper shone is as bad as people say, even though I'm not a fan. I think what killed shone was the awesome 2 month viral marketing campaign where the end product didn't deliver to the hype. It also didn't help that many people expected it to lead to a brand new album.

Part of me wonders what the reaction would have been if they had just released the album quietly as an interesting side project.

 

I don't even care about the lead up, I thought the album was horrible.

 

Fair enough. I remember liking a couple tracks but have had no desire to return to it in the past couple years

 

Yeah, I just know the lead up didn't affect me because I came in late on it and was kinda indifferent about getting a new Brand New album anyway.

Maybe he's just content with the four albums we have? Perhaps similarly to how people want films and videogame franchises to limit their sequels, stop while they're already on top.

One sub-par release can tarnish a legacy.

 

I think I get what he's trying to say. I mean, if we get a fifth album, then I'm here for it and I'm looking forward to it, but if it never comes I'm okay with that too. There's a lot of other music out there that my anticipation for a Brand New album has waned over the years. They're a great band but there's a ton of other great bands out there too.
