Wasn't able to watch live, so some quick thoughts:

-For as much as they're just kind of generic WWE big guys, AOP manage to impress me every single time they're in a big match. They're too limited to carry anything themselves, but put them with people that can work even a little and they always kill it.

-Ohno v Dream was fun. It's amazing to me how well Dream has turned what should have been a dead in the water gimmick into something so great. Also, Blaster McMassive holding the mouthpiece was hilarious. Sign him up, WWE.

-I think Baszler will get there eventually, but I don't think she is good enough to justify slingshotting her into a title match right away. I don't understand how a legitimate mixed martial artist could make an armbar look so bad. Also, Triple H really needs to stop with the "get the doctors down here" trope. The audience hates that shit so much it got them to boo Cole getting a legit wrap done on a really nasty cut.

-Man, Cole and Black are both absolute megastars in the making. This match had just the right amount of fun overbooking that a gimmick match should and both of them were amazing from start to finish. I think Black goes up after losing to Almas next Takeover.

-Holy fucking shit, that main event. Reading through the thread, I'm honestly surprised anyone is even debating if it's the best NXT match ever. I think it was without question, at least from a purely wrestling standpoint. Maybe it didn't have enough of an emotional aspect to it, but the only thing in NXT that even comes close to it (Dunne/Bate) didn't either. I feel like over the last year the world has realized that Gargano is like top 5-10 in the world, but honestly Almas is starting to look like he may soon be in that conversation as well. Candice and Ciampa spots, even if predictable, we awesome. The payoff match for Gargano/Ciampa is going to be unreal.

wow i was totally uninterested in NxT coming in but well done! MAURO!!! by god this is the announcer i've been waiting for over a decade! He's enhancing the matches...im genuinely popping for his calls at this point. And i'll say, Percy, with Mauro, not bad at all.

- Tag match; My least favorite match of the night. I think the AOP is gonna be a major flop on the main roster. Not really feeling is with anyone in this match and thought it was kinda okay. 4 out of 10

- Dream vs Ohno; Solid enough match. Velveteen can go in so many different directions in terms of success, but hey, that's what NxT is for. This is where he needs to hone in what works, what doesn't, etc. Very colorful, entertaining match. Ohno is fine, but Dream clearly has the major potential. 6.5 out of 10

- Moon vs Bayzler; Liked it. Take away the "doctor" spot and this was really good. Unique looking women's match...cool styles by both women..and i like the heat Shayna is getting. 7.5 out of 10

- Black vs Cole; Amazing. Clearly, this is where the card went to a whole new level. Fucking great. Top to bottom I thought this was everythign it needed to be. Mauro was on his A game here...the spots were top notch...im loving Aleister Black and Cole has a huge future too. No complaints. Great stuff. 9.;5 out of 10

- Gargano vs. Cien; Final 10 minutes, ridculously great. Going into this I was spent after the Black and Cole match, and the whole time i was saying 'eh how is this the main event?' Like I'm not totally buying Cien as anything special, but hey, maybe it was Gargano, but I'm a believer now. Stud of a match. I love Vega attacking Gargano here! A manager actually doing something, how fucking novel. Fantastic match, fantastic spots... i love LaRae getting involved and that last head shot, brutal. Great stuff, great final two matches. Cap it off with the Ciampa return...solid. 9 out of 10

Not breaking any barriers with this review I hope. Final two matches were magnificent... thought the womens match was interesting and unique... dream has the big potentia...and the tag was standard. 7.5 out of 10 overall

Despite knowing it was gonna happen, I marked out a little when Candice interfered. Also, while they were running through the crowd you could see this confiscated sign by the ring announce table, and I’m pretty sure it had Adam Coles face on it lmao.
The Chiampa spot was amazing. Tricked me again with that stamp thing. New shirt looks awesome.

New Beginning has been awesome so far.

 

Being there live thoughts of the show:
AOP/TUE was a real good opener. AOP has improved so much since starting a few years ago. Definitely main roster ready and Vince is going to have a blast with them.

Dream/Ohno: Dream is the most over dude in wrestling thats not Johnny Gargano. Just awesome stuff and the crowd was going bananas during the first 30 seconds or so. It was a little rough at spots, a bit too ambitious of a match, but still enjoyable. Crowd got over the two blown spots pretty quickly, which is pretty rare at NXT shows.

Moon/Baszler: I was the only person in my section who loved this match. It was an armbar for like 10 minutes and they milked it to the extreme. Thought the suspense was built wonderfully and the booking was perfect. It was way too early for Ember to lose the title, and this was a good way to extend the feud and both of them looking strong.

Black/Cole: Another killer match between these too. Some really great spots, and the interferences were a really nice touch. TUE is so hatable for a team that the NXT crowd would generally love. Sanity rules. The double chair spot was brutal and my back still hurts from just watching it. EDIT: Adding in that Maria Menunos was in the crowd from the Women's match on, and she may have actually been front row for the first two matches. She was chanting holy shit after the chair spot and it was lovely. She was super into everything.

Gargano/Almas: Yup, they did it. This isn't being topped this year. Both Almas and Gargano felt like huge stars going in. Lots of exciting stuff, and the story telling was unbelievable. Gargano is the best babyface on the planet. Crowd was on its feet for the entirety of the last 10 minutes. I don't think Gargano needed this win, and think its going to be a better long term story with the loss. Its literally the Rocky story, he got to the big show, and got so close, but didn't succeed. And he obviously still has demons he has to deal with before getting to the title. Just an incredible showing from both guys.
