Craig Manning and I are doing a dual "first listen live blog" of this album tonight in the supporter forum. If anyone is interested, please come join us as we listen to the album and then blog our thoughts and argue about what songs we love, don't love, and so forth.

    It'll start in about 5 minutes @ 7:30pm PT.

(This is an exclusive for supporters of the website.)

Haha this song is NASTY. The best of the four released. Gonna enjoy it for a couple days then I'm putting all four songs away until the album drops.

New song is a total jam. Only listened to it once but I'm gonna leave it at that and wait to revisit all 4 tracks when the album drops. Seriously though, this album is shaping up to be a classic.

The new song is everything I want out of a Brian Fallon song. Really hoping that pre-orders come in early because 14 days is so long to wait.

Have any b sides been announced for this album (aside from the acoustic Forget Me Not)?

No willpower whatsoever. None. Song previews sound amazing.

Is it weird that I love his solo material but just cannot seem to enjoy The Gaslight Anthem?

Yes, because the lines are all so blurred at this point. But people like what they like so to each their own. I think more than anything, each album from Gaslight, Crowe’s, to solo Brian all have a different sound but very much by the same guy (or guys in some cases if you consider Ian, Alex, Ted, and so on).

For an album that was announced so long ago, this release is kind of sneaking up on me. Less than 2 weeks to go!

Granted, aside from the 4 songs released so far, I'm only listening to 90-second samples at this point, but to me the instrumentation here sounds different enough from what Gaslight tended to sound like to justify it being its own thing. I didn't really feel that way about Elsie at all, and even Painkillers - an album that I enjoy immensely - I feel like as the tour went on with the band he had together the songs kinda morphed a little bit away from strictly singer/songwriter sound back towards a little more like how Gaslight sounded.

Even reading that back I'm not sure it makes any sense but I guess comparing the album version of the song Painkillers to videos of them playing the song live towards the end of the tour kinda illustrates what I'm trying to say. Or how the live videos of them playing the song Rosemary sound a little more electric-guitar led versus glockenspiel led.

Loving the clips, though I think I’m gonna agree with Jason about Proof Of Life being b-side material.

Neptune verse and chorus sounds straight off of Handwritten (but the post-chorus instrumental absolutely does not)
