I used to roller skate in competitions and I kept beating the same girls over and over. It got boring. Then I "retired" because the year I made it to nationals, Nancy kerrigan got her knee smashed in. I had a Tonya Harding in my life.....I was all set with that, lol.

 

That seriously sounds so fun. I used to be really good at rollerblading. I wonder if I still got those skillz.

i just had chipotle, it sounded like a good idea at the time but my stomach is saying otherwise currently

 

Yeah, and your voice sounded like the beginning of SNL's drastic decline in quality.

 

I cant do SNL. I might cringe to death if I watched a full episode.

 

Weekend Update was awesome before everyone and their mother had a late night show with a monologue

 

This post was/is underappreciated tbh

 

SNL hasn't experienced the drop in quality a lot of people think it has. It's always been a mixed bag, people just remember the best stuff from older seasons

 

I think it's because SNL was meant for a world with less technology than we have now. It was meant to provide lots of content in bursts in a time when we didn't have access to tons of content, and now that we do it feels more bland.

 

I feel like this is true of everything, but yeah especially SNL like you only remember the one good sketch not the mediocre ones from those episodes
same with The Simpsons, is the show the same as it once was almost 30 years later, of course not and it would be insane to expect that

That's a good point. You can see a ton of sketches online everyday filtered by what similar people find funny, and all kinds of other content, so having a lot of hot or miss in the span of two hours is less thrilling

 

Like the whole premise of SNL is basically freestyle sketches written in less than a week, it's ticks away from improv and improv is EXTREMELY hit or miss. It was never supposed to be appreciated as a polished product of comedy and since 1. we have tons of content available now for comedy and 2. late night shows are extremely polished forms of basically the same thing that happen more frequently, it gets looked at as bad comedy instead of great "improv".
