Also, based on The Guardian, the current woman in charge didn't want it full time and the other woman in their top 3 candidates signed up with a US side, so it's not like they haven't tried to get a woman in charge.

That being said, not sure how they arrived at Phil...

 

It just screams of publicity tbh. Getting Phil in. Considering his most important role in coaching so far has been essentially putting out the cones for the Man United team while Moyes was in charge. It seems they wanted a "name", they got it but it's already back firing on them.

 

Also, I sort of assumed that the tweets would be a storm in a teacup and largely taken out of context, but they're really fucking poor. Someone at the FA needs to start engaging their brain.

Yeah I thought the same. I was like oh he made a joke about women being in the kitchen. It's poor but ultimately not that bad, but holy fuck he goes in on some of them.

I do agree that the best person for the job should get it. The having no knowledge or experience of the women's game doesn't necessarily hold weight. I mean the amount of coaches that get employed in countries and can't speak the language or have never coached in that country, it doesn't matter. If they're the best coach for the job, they're the best for the job. Knowledge can be built up.

But the sexist shite he's previously spouted will be the nail in the coffin. Shocking given the reasons why they were looking for a new manager in the first place.
