Similar situation. I have a Google Home, and I can't see myself paying $350 when the Assistant on the Home is way good and offers more app usability. Although I'm sure the sound on the HomePod will be superior, the Home at $129 is crazy good value in comparison.

 

Yeah for me, I'd be much more inclined to check out the HomePod if it was more flexible, i.e., had bluetooth. I like Spotify over Apple Music, so not only would I have to shell out 350 for a new speaker (I have a Google Home) but I'd have to switch to AM as well.

 

i rarely use my Echo for anything other than my new alarm clock that i got on black friday. Will wait until i see reviews.

 

Airplay 2 and multi speaker functionality not being ready at launch is disappointing. Did Apple feel like they need a speaker w/ voice assistant that they just rushed this to market. The fact that it was delayed and not all functionality they said would be there makes me believe they they just wanted something on the market vs making the best in class product.

On HomePod and audio quality

The practical upshot is that that 4″ driver can go louder than larger drivers, and with significantly less distortion. It’s also stuff you typically find in speakers with five-figure price tags (The Beolab 90 does this, and I also suspect that the Kii Three does). It’s a quantum leap over what a typical passive speaker does, and you don’t really even find it in higher-end powered speakers

Anyone have an issue with your Apple Watch randomly disconnecting from you iPhone. I’ll wake up or random times during the day and even though my phone has always been nearby the watch is in WiFi.
