Yeah that's true. Surely they think they'll make money off it somehow though so I'm definitely curious to see how well it goes over, not only with Microsoft but developers as well

 

Well not just it, all Microsoft games going forward. It's also not free technically, haha.

 

I mean it'll only be their own games, I'd guess third party developers are happy that some people won't have to choose between games

Microsoft’s Xbox game subscription will include the next Halo, Gears of War, and Forza on launch day

 

They will be fine. This is huge for Microsoft.

 

I could sign up for a free trial, plus it for 14 days and cancel. But yeah, not free long-term. Seems like a desperate move.

 

How long are the launch titles on the service, is it like a 2 week trial designed to get people interested enough to buy the game?

 

Damn. I don’t understand how they can make a profit with that. Maybe there is something I’m not understanding

 

i'll be buying a year subscription and i spent less than $120 on xbox games last year. they're gonna make a profit off of me lol

 

I don't think it's desperate at all, they have been experimenting with distribution methods as and games as a service, so it makes sense.

In terms of money: If a lot of people that play one maybe exclusive a year sign up, they'll get more money from those people than they do now.

They want the subscription money.

 

If anything it’s going to promote the sale of the XBOX. Buy an Xbox, get all these games including OG Xbox AND brand new launch titles for $10/month. I’d say that is a really good deal.

 

also, good will is worth something. guarantee you that the holiday bundles start coming with a month of game pass, and the advertising potential for being able to play a new Halo and Gears out of the box for no additional cost is something no other bundle could top to the average family/consumer
