I'd be pretty surprised if that happened. I just don't see it happening.

I assume we have no idea even if the band are "still together", even. Who knows what's happened between them, in terms of whether they knew all of this, how they've reacted if they didn't etc.

I'm just glad the truth came out when it did - before they'd finished. I hope it killed Brand New, and I hope this forever tarnishes their legacy.

Also, not sure if it's been discussed in this thread already, but it's obviously festival announcement season, and Brand New are no where to be seen. Thank God.

 

Not really what I said. I said given what we know now, my reasoning for not wanting my website to be what shows up when you google his name and have an affair from the past show up, because he has a kid now, is less important given his own admittance/the other allegations.

Before knowing what we now know, the other stuff was far more gossipy and in the past vs a history.

I didn’t see any I would describe as such. The most upvoted ones I saw are very gross and factually wrong.

 

I hope if they try to tour and end their career on their own terms they just get bottled off at every show. JL is an abusive piece of shit and his bandmates are complicit. Their band should be dead in the water and their legacy ruined. They don't fucking get the last word on this and shouldn't get to ever play another show.

 

From what I can tell by the common BN Facebook fan and such, people will go just as batshit crazy for tickets as they ever have unfortunately. Don't think they're getting run off the stage sadly.

IIRC there were a few people that worked for venues talking about Brand New having 2018 dates booked and they weren’t cancelled as of yet.

Mostly on Reddit I think.

 

Even for events that aren't happening. I was contacted on Reddit by someone in the states who wanted to buy my tickets for the London show that was cancelled amidst all of this - just to "have" the useless tickets for a show that didn't happen across an ocean.

Did it anyways and donated the money. No skin off my nose if someone wants some useless paper, as long as you know your money is going right to charities that support victims of this behaviour.

I’m betting they would have been on many of the festivals this summer that were already announced had all this not happened (along with two or three tours). I think someone had already said either on here, or somewhere online, that one of the festivals announced a few months ago was delayed because it originally had BN in the line-up and they had to go find someone else to replace them.

While I do think there is still a large, ignorant portion of their fanbase that would go to their shows without a problem, there would be a very large, loud and unavoidable lashback (rightfully so, obviously) should they announce anything so I'd say it's highly doubtful they try to play any shows.

 

I'm 90% sure Slam Dunk in the UK (think our version of Warped but only over a couple of dates) is having Jimmy Eat World and Good Charlotte co-headline because they had Brand New booked and it was too short notice to get someone big enough (A Day To Remember, Biffy Clyro, All Time Low, etc).

 

idk if slam dunk would be BNs ~scene~ these days but i suppose the purpose of the 2018 tour was just gonna be to make as much $ as possible so not too much of a crazy thought

 

They've been adding more diverse music lately, finally getting bands like Citizen, Turnover, and other emo bands. I think they'd have easily been the perfect headliner outside of ADTR.

 

i was more thinking that brand new wouldnt wanna play it rather than slam dunk wouldnt try and book them
