This might be my favorite Bruins team since 2011-2013. The Marchand-Bergeron-Pastrnak line is a joy to watch.

I can literally hear the smug look on Babcock's face right now. After getting a ton of shit for always starting Hyman/Komarov/one of the other plugs in OT because defense, he finally starts Matthews/Nylander and Nylander being an absolute dumbshit basically singlehandedly loses the game for us.

What the fuck is he thinking on that play? Jesus goddamn shit.

 

Even when they were off to a rough start, just so insanely enjoyable. I'll always appreciate Claude, but it's such a far cry from the way he had these guys playing. What a turnaround.

 

I really can't tell if Martin Jones sucks or this defense is just this bad.

 

If Dustin Brown doesn’t get more suspension time than Andrew Cogliano I will be furious

 

I think if you give Claude this lineup, it’s leagues better than what he’s dealt with the past couple years. But Bruce has been great. Bergy/Marchy/Pasta best line in the league

 

They were actually talking about this on the radio today, and for once I agreed with them: I mean, Claude had these guys (save for McAvoy), he just didn't use them. H was so vehement about holding back on the younger players, I'd be shocked if someone like DeBrusk was playing over Beleskey if Julien was still in control. It's just not how he did things when he was here. And McAvoy would absolutely not be putting up the TOI numbers he is now.

Again, I always liked the guy, but I think we're still on the outside looking in if he's still here. Or at the very least, barely hanging on to a wild card spot. I just give Cassidy a lot of credit for turning this thing around.

 

Yeah I think his patience with younger guys is paying dividends. Like I said Cassidy has done an excellent job, but in terms of prospect development, I think he came in just at the right time.

Sure as hell he can get more out of Carlo though. Sophomore slump embodied

 

Julien's last couple of years in Boston were interesting to me. Always thought they kind of overachieved with their roster aside from the Bergeron line even if they didn't make the playoffs. There wasn't enough skill so they had to win by defense & shot volume like the Kings did for years. The league has kind of caught up to that style of hockey now. Even then, it seemed like he was just riding Bergeron/Marchand/Chara/Rask to as many wins as he could and they needed more out of the rest of the lineup. He's kind of doing the same thing in Montreal with a worse roster & it's a total mess. Cassidy walked into a pretty good situation this year, though with the roster being in transition.

 

NOW IMAGINE THE BRUINS WITH BARZAL, BOESER AND CHABOT/CONNOR

 

Freddie had some pretty strong words for the Leafs in post-game. Something to the effect of "we need to figure out who wants to play for this team."

That was Gardiner's misread. He's got the entire length of the ice to realize that Nylander's chasing the puck carrier down and to adjust to the pass, and he doesn't.
