Real talk though one of my (most pointless) gripes about recent FF games (like XIV and XV) is that the music cuts off to generic battle music any time you come across an enemy and the music hardly has any time to breathe and combine that great FF music with the Yoko Taro "everything is seamless" music experience and OOOOH

 

I mean Final Fantasy at this point is just a brand that comes with a very limited brand manual, so really they can do whatever with whoever. It's not like Dragon Quest or something like that.

 

Yeah it's pretty much "include these creatures and call your currency 'gil' and you're good"

 

Yes. It's also why I think that people shouldn't get too hung up on a game being called Final Fantasy, or at least don't get excited based on that only because it doesn't really mean much. Just take each game for what it is, haha.

 

I got xii the zodiac age as a Christmas present so I guess I should attempt that at some point

So any game that has a negative presence is just a victim of the vocal minority? What about good games that get praise on internet forums? Suddenly, the silent majority emerged? I do agree that people are more likely to share their negative opinions but your argument is weak. I can deflect criticism of anything I like by saying "Only haters share their opinion!"

I don't think critics were wrong. Many gamers don't either. There is no data to support the vocal minority dilemma in this case specifically. Invoking it when you disagree with negative press is cheap even if you're not genuinely trying to validate your own opinion. It is cheap because your only proof it is a vocal minority is YOU liked it.

EA doesn't care about online feedback. They care about sales. If ME: A sold enough despite the backlash then they'll make another. If they table it then there's the answer. Further, the core gamer demographic is not as diverse as you think. Sales for core titles are still primarily driven by middle aged men with women gamers driving the bulk of mobile sales. It also seems you're conflating a negative response to this game with toxicity. These are people's opinion on the game, not a hate movement.

 

I think it's moreso "this staff is working on it!" than it is the name itself

But yeah at this point I agree, I'm sure to check it out just because of the goodwill the brand has, but I'm definitely not gonna overhype anymore haha

 

With Final Fantasy XV: Royal Edition coming and me wanting any excuse to play the game again, guess I'm getting that on 6th March!

Will by Frozen Wilds and play until then. Or Sims 4. Or Monster Hunter. Unless anyone else has any ideas.

I think halo is the series where I own the most duplicate copies.

ODST is like my 2nd favorite Halo after Reach. incredible game.
